I just finished installing my 60mm Greddy EGT (Peak/Hold) Gauge with a TRE Probe...
Issue: Gauge is not working. I turn the ignition on, needle jumps to the 8 (Where I have the warning set to) and stays there they entire time. Warning light comes on when I stay at WOT for more than 5 seconds.

Is the probe not compatible? I tried switching the wires that go to the probe, that actually caused the Check light on the gauge to come on, i.e. probe not working, so probe is wired right. I called up Greddy but they were about as useful as monkey with a SAE toolkit. They kept telling me they don't have any wiring diagrams about the gauge and I should use greddy probe.

I can't understand what gives.

Sounds like this could be a ground issue. I would ensure that you have a good ground for the gauge first.

Also, I'm not familiar with the Greddy gauge, but if 8 represents 800 degrees F, then I would set your warning at higher than 8. Normal EGT's can exceed 1300 degrees F even in the downpipe.

Have you Reversed the wires yet? The EGT probe works just fine with the Greddy gauge and the response time is much faster.

I have reversed the wires. Reversing the wires causes the Check light on the gauge itself to go off.
I will try switching around the wire that goes from the gauge itself to the sender unit. It plugs in either way but the wires seem to be different colors on each side, as in they don't terminate at the same pins. So perhaps I might have that backwards.

Greddy gauges read in degrees Celcius. You should have the peak/hold setup with a warning light at 820 or so. You should never want to see more than 900 degrees.

Also, once you set your gauge to its peak alarm reading of 800 degrees, did you push the button again, then reset the peak recorded value?

I have not heard of problems using the fast reading EGT probes that Jon sells, with the Greddy gauges. In fact, I have heard of several people posting positive results using that probe; especially since the Greddy probe is $110 new for a replacement.
