Well there's a few things i want to do on the inside, one of them is to replace the rug material on the door panels, i want to replace this with a smooth finish and paint black, or put some black material over it. Anyone done this before??

Also what's the besy paint for plastic?? i am planning to paint the kickpanels and a few areas in the door but don't know what paint to use.

And what's the best paint for the top of the door that area that's the same material as the center glove box.

Thanks

This is my opinion and my opinion only, the 96 cent rattle cans at Walmart are the best cans I have worked with (ColorPlace is the brand I believe). Krylon Fusion simply rubbed off on my door panels within a couple of weeks.

The best way I figure is to rough it up with sandpaper (800 or 1000 grit), primer it, let it sit for 15 min, primer it again, sit for 15 min, paint it the color you desire, wait 15 min, paint it again, wait an hour, use clearcoat, wait 15 minute, use it again, wait 15 min, and use it again. This should be sufficient enough to keep the paint tacked to the plastic and the clearcoat should help prevent any paint damage.

Sure, lots of people have done it. You can fiberglass that part, then it will be hard and smooth finished. Basiucally cut up a few peices of fiberglass. Soak the cloth in resin, and I mean soak it until it cannot hold anymore resin. When that resin enters the gelstage (it'll feel tacky to your finger) lay those few peices fo fiberglass down onto where the resin is. Follow up with dabbing on more resin with a cheap paintbrush. When that resin starts to gel, lay some more fiberglass, and the whole process repeats. I would say 2-3 layers would be good, unless you think otherwise. I'm sure you can find a much better writeup on this if you do a little looking around

I have found that Krylon Fuzion and AUtomotive Dupli-color work the best, although in my opinion the dupli-color is better than the fuzion. Just scuff the plastic up with 220 or 320 grit sandpaper, prime it, paint it, and clearcoat it, this stuff should last the life of the car.

Dupli-color also makes a vinyl/cloth spray on dye. Just scuff the leather/vinyl with a wet peice of 1500 grit, scrb it a little with dish soap and water, rinse, spray on.

Good luck.
