hey i was wondering if a 91 eclipse gst with the following mods is worth buying or will it blow up pretty soon.

Transmission:
20k miles on the transmission.
Excedy clutch.

Motor:
20k miles on the motor.
Cometic head gasket.
8mm Accel plug wires.
Turbo XS blow off valve.
Buschar Racing UICP (upper inter cooler piping).
Mitsubishi EVO 3 turbo (new).
Hallman boost controller.
Buschar racing 2.5" turbo back exhaust.
VDO EGT (exhaust temperature gauge).
VDO boost gauge.
KYB shocks
Sportline springs
Carbon fiber tail lights.

also, the guy said the car is running at 17 psi and its tuned at that amount to not run too lean or rich. since it has a bigger turbo and running more boost, is it necessary to get an intercooler or would it be safe without one.
-thanks

It should have an intercooler considering it came from the fact with a sidemount. What did the tune the car with? I didn't see any mention of anykind of tuning hardware. Does it still have the fact. injectors? back the boost back down until you get something to tune it with.

idk he said he had to get a new computer when he got it because he got it from a dsm place without an engine and had to put some new parts on it. he said that if u turn the boost up too high then it will be running to lean so considering if u turn it down it will be too rich. but too rich is better that too lean. he is also runnign the stock injectors which i thik are 450's so that is what made me think.

A "new" computer alone is not going to tune the engine for the 16g turbo and 17 psi of boost. And you can't dial in your a/f ratio with boost. So as running rich with lower boost and leaner with higher boost is theoraticaly possible you can't tune is your a/f ration but that. If you buy it just drop the boost back down to about 12 psi until you get a safc and tune it in to the higher boost level.

then what would he have tuned it with if he actaully did. i think showdown motorsports might have done it

if you buy it, turn it down or just take the boost controller off if you're paranoid. Me, I'm paranoid, so I bought a logger before installing a MBC.

Take it for a drive and see how it runs. If you think it drives nice do a compression test. If you get good results then buy it. :thumb:

Thats what I am getting at there is nothing there to tune it. :thumb: It's needs to atleast have a safc up to Dsmlink to tune it. And Dreamon good call on the logger. :thumb: Yes get a logger.

what kind of logger do u recommend and does that just plug into the ecu and then u tune the a/f ratio so i will be able to run higher psi's without an intercooler safer before i eventaully get one

I had the digital tuning pocket logger and I was happy with it, but it cost me $125 plus a cheap palm. There are cheaper ways to take care of it, but I don't have any experience with them. You could try finding someone local that has one you could borrow. Either way, if you just et a logger it will only tell you what your car is doing, you won't be able to tune with it. For tuning you're going to need something like an s-afc or DSMLink (logs and tunes).

*Edit* Also it's frowned upon to bump your thread.

Also like I said earlier you have a intercooler the car came with one from the factory it is a sidemount. Look into the front pass. side of the car where the fog light is or should be and you will see it. :thumb:
