Toronto,
Got my motor built and about ready to drop it in.

Well, I finally decided to pick a fuel mangement system. Got something a lil better than the SAFC/SFMU combo, but not a standalone that I can't afford.

I"ll be using the E-mange with the Pressure sensor, ignition harness, and injector harness, and I"ll be running the E-o1 boost controller.

I'll see what happens when I get it all going with dyno numbers and all and do a small write up since there isn't too much information about it on this site.

Well I'll tell you right now, the set up is around 1000 for me.

The e-mange box and all the other harness and stuff you have to buy with it cost about $500 in parts and about $640 installed.

The boost controller (E-o1) is about $600 but I'm getting one for $400, but the idea behind having the e-01 with the e-mange is that the boost will be accurate, and also the e-mange can read the boost and adjust the fuel according as boost rises. (because I'm fwd I can have the boost kick in at a lower rate till I get traction then reach full boost later)

The only problem I've seen so far is that e-mange is not made for american vehicles so the intial settings that you set it to aren't exact, but by calling greddy you can get a setting that matches our 2.0L 16valve DOCH, 5volt map sensor etc.

that sounds like a tough install. i like to do all i can myself so will i be able to do it you think? I made my custom turbo kit and built my motor myself. do you think it will be really hard to do the emanage on our cars?

Well as far as I know most of the harness shoudl be plug and play, except for the new pressure sensor. The e-mange set up as far as setting it up to match a motor is just a few up and down click buttons on the side of the unit. With different sequences for different motors.
ie. up, up, down, up, down = one kind of japanese motor. My shop's goal is to call greddy and find the setting that best resembles our 420a motor. It shouldn't be too hard its been done plenty of times.

I will let you know how it all goes in the next two weeks as I finish up this project.

I have the same setup on my eclipse. Did not get to use it much since i blew up my engine after 2 days after install. I was still a newbie to the whole fuel programming thing, so I thought that if I raise my boost that the e-manage would adjust for that but I did not know its only to the point that it was tuned for so I learned the hard way and melted a hole through my forged pistons  And that was about four months ago, I have to safe for a new engine. Are you getting the Blue, Gold, or Ultimate? On Yahoo motors are a group that is just for the e-manage and you can learn allot from there even download the support tool etc. They also found a way to install new firmware without hardware modifications to make it even a little bit more functional than the Gold so as soon as mine is running again thats what I will be doing. The e-manage is about the only thing for our 420a guys that have some support and help, BC dsmlink will not work and you need a new wire harness for aem and I do not know much about the megasquirt system, but you cant go wrong with your combo.

I am using 550's and I was running 4 psi since my E-01 froze and had to be sent back and were only able to use my wastegate to control boost, but at 4psi I was running 198 horses. But once my new engine and clutch is broken in I was to tune for around 22psi

Well I have a some 370cc injectors right now, that I'm going to start with, but I have a pair of 550cc injectors that I might throw in if I need too for more adjustability but if not I"m going to send them back.

So far It looks like I'll be going with the blue e-mange, but the guy who tunes my car is looking into the ultimate a lil more to see if it has benifits for my particular application.

I'm looking for 15-20lbs of boost, and a minimum of 250whp, which shouldn't be a problem but thats the bottom line. It would be awesome if I could turn out higher numbers but I want my expectations really low.

what setup did you use for dyno numbers bigrand?

STAR Stage 2 turbo kit, 60mm TB, stock cat w/2.5" exhaust, 370cc injectors with the 12:1 FMU (bad idea, you can do it with the stock injectors). SAFC2, Manual Boost Controller (turbo XS high performance), Mobil 1 Synthetic Oil. and I think thats the main stuff.

Oh and it was at 7.5psi, I started with 170whp and 164ft-lbs with 5psi

cool i run the same fmu and stock injectors. I run about 8 psi or so right now. i was just curious. well i have to do something about fuel sooner or later and i allready have the sfmu (140 bucks on ebay used. hope it works) in my shed so i might just get a wideband and some 440's and trythat route first. 1000 is a lot of cash to drop on a fuelsystem that i might not get to work. I am sure i can get something out of that setup that wont blow my motor and get me about 250 or more whp. tell us as soon as you get it running you might change my mind.

Yeah you shouldn't have a problem with that set up, up to about 15psi, (probably go higher, but I'm talking for a daily driver and giving that a really conservative estimate.) Definatly pay attention to "Corbrins" fuel manament page on 2gnt.com and James on GSturbo.com has got a lot of helpful hints and tips.

I am running a stock 2.4L engine and exhaust I bolted up a 14b and stock 1g turbo manifold with a 255lph fuel pump 550cc injectors and an e-manage and I made 200whp @ 8psi on a Mustang dyno jet (I was told they often have lower numbers than other dynos)

Damn, Rand. You don't want to spend $1200 on a full stand alone (or $500 on MS), but you're going to drop a grand on eManage? Wow. Have fun. WTF

Not saying it's not worth it, because I know people who use it, but just damn.

yeah...megasquirt seems more and more like the way I'll be headed this winter

the new e-manage ultimate does look pretty pimp thought, let us know what's up

I just go with what I know my shop guys can work with. I'm sure they could do the whole megasquirt thing, and they have heard of it, but I'm not about to let my car be the lab rat for that. I've been without my car for a month and a half now, waiting for this motor, and school is coming up so I need this thing back on the road asap, no new projects for me, I want it done fast, but I'd rather have it done right and streetable.

I'm actually saving money because I'm getting hooked up with the e-mange and boost controller (don't get me wrong I'm still paying out the ass) but they're cutting some dyno cost with me as well.

You know what's funny about the e-mange though (and mega squirt for that matter) They make it look like your spending about the same amount for a brand new SAFC2, but you have to spend an extra $300 just to use the e-mange, (and an extra $400-$500 for megasqurit), and the e-mange does it's best when hooked up to an e-01, which is still another $500+. Whatever maybe I"m just chicken when it comes to the whole stand alone thing, but right now I"m just going to finish this kick ass motor and be done with the motor part for a long time.
