Okay, I have been looking at this 1990 AWD. It runs great and is a good price for the mods. I'm pretty sure I am going to get it. Here is what it has:

HKS "Super Mega Flow" intake filter and housing
Vitek performance wires
Buschur Racing Sport Upgrade Big 16G turbo
Oxygen sensor housing with a ported housing
255 lph in tank fuel pump and fuel filter
Buschur Racing Ported 2G exhaust manifold
2.5" exhaust system with 2.5" test pipe
dual gage pod for the A-pillar with a fuel-to-air ratio meter and a mechanical boost gage
GREDDY PROFEC-B BOOST CONTROL

I understand that this turbo is for the more modified cars. My question is what mods should I do next? Of course any maintenance will be done first. Should I go with a maf upgrade to a 2g or GM MAF? Or should I get injectors and a AFC? Just curious where I can get some more power with these mods. I'm a newbie so any advice/comments would be appreciated.

Don't want to flame you or anything b/c I posted a similar post on here LOL but get the car first I'm sure you'd have fun with it in the form it is in right now sounds like a great car... :dsm: :talon:

And I'm a newb to dsms so disregard my comments if they sound stupid ;)

Since it has allot of speed mods I would do a compression test when the motor is hot. should be around 150 PSI with every cylinder 20% with in each other. My 90 as 150 highest and 145 lowest. That was with 103k on the stock motor. What oil did he use and was the motor taken care of? What does the oil look like now??
Check the spark plug color for oil fouling they should all be dry with a white/grey color to them if they are the stock heat range.
If all checks out ok I would have some stage 2 head work done with HD springs and titanium retainers stock or 1mm over ss valves. Composite stock head gasket and ARP head studs. The injestors you want for that 16g are 660s to give you room to play with along with a adjustable FPR. A 2g mass with dejon pipe and SAFC to tune with.
The only other thing I would have done diffrently with the car is put a 3" turbo back on it. The 16g is a good start but will out grow its limitations. :thumb:

Thanks for the replies. The head work is a little much, I was thinking about bolt-ons. Is there a Evo intake manifold for 1g's or any other good bolt-ons I don't have? Would the maf upgrade be a good performance upgrade? I will defintely get injectors and a afc to tune it. Please keep the replies coming, when will the 2 1/2 inch exhaust be too small for the 16g?

The 2g mass will alow more air flow without hitting fuel cut at wide open throttle. The 1g mass has a hard time reading high air flow to keep your mixture right. THe SAFC is needed to tune to match your mass air and injectors for the right air fuel mixture.
The 2.5 " exhaust is fine as long as you are running no cat its fine for that b16g but in a perfect build a 3.0' will flow more air giveing bettter turbo performance.
I know the head is alot of work but it will shine with the mods already done to the car and the head gasket/valve seats and valves themselves and valvetrain are getting wore out is all. How long ago since the timing belt was done???
You could get a nice street FMIC and turn the boost up to 19psi and will be a nice ride on the street. . Dont worry about the intake guys run 11s on the stock one all day long. Does it have any gauges? How many miles on the motor??

The car has 136,xxx miles, the timing belt was done at 100,000, and the head was rebuilt at 51,000. The car has an a/f and boost gauge. I may look into front mount ic next. Thanks.

Car sounds good. Check to see who did the work, how well it was maintaned, how the tranny shifts etc. If it looks good to you and what not go for it. Don't waste your money on a evo 3 exh mani, that Buschur ported 2g will do just fine. It will all matter on what you want to do with the car to see what mods you will need to do next. If you plan to build a sleeper, i'd go with either the dejontool.com upgraded sidemount or make whatever fmic kit you choose, as inconspicuous (sp?) as possible. Oh, and ditch the a/f light show for an egt, water temp, oil pressure, fuel pressure gauge or something, anything but the light show.

Ok first you tell him to get some "Stage 2" head work done and then tell him not to change the intake manifold? You contradict yourself, those mods to the head won't help much with stock cams and intake mani, or the 16g for that matter. You say that guys run 11's all day long on the intake mani but you can run 10's on the stock 1g head, hell 2G guys have run low 11's on the stock head. So don't waste money on something that won't help that much with the other mods he has now. If I were you I would switch to a 2g or even GM mas get at least some 550's and an AFC.

Okay, my next three mods will be a larger maf, afc, and injectors. How come a/f gauges are no good? Do I really need a egt gauge if I will not be going over 350hp?

The blinky light show a/f gauges are no good, because of the fact that the would really only read a/f at full throttle. An egt gauge is like piece of mind. having one should not be a basis for how much hp you have.

Okay, anyone know a place to get an afforable egt gauge? Are they universal or something? How tough are they to install?
Sorry guys but one last question, if I were to get the car and drive it around with the mods it has right now, do I NEED to adjust fuel pressure right away by getting an afpr or afc? Someone says I do because of the larger fuel pump and others say I don't because I'm not running larger injectors. What's the deal?

Here are a couple of pics.
