Since that there has been much heat generated over various turbos that are out now, I figured I would start a thread that would do two things:

1.State a general "Address of DSMers"

I recieved a private message from a dsmer in regard to a long, hot-winded post about a certain turbo that won't name.

It was no problem at all. Just doing what any other self-respecting DSMer would do!

And #2

Provide a thread that will allow people to Praise/Rant, give advice, show proof about all types of turbos.

If your turbo works good, someone will say this. If a turbo sucks, someone will chime in that got suckered in. Thats what the purpose of this thread is about.

This way there will be no stepping-on of toes, and no Religous-cult style nazi turbo support.

People, what turbos work, and what turbos suck?

The makers of the "MUTT" that so many people got burned on (like yourself) and the makers of the "worlds longest thread turbo" are more related than most know.....

Its clear that the EVOIII 16g is the Best turbo for the money, and also the most under-rated with flow closer to a 20g then any 16g. This is obvious. So I'll put ALL the MHI turbos in the:

-Quality Turbo Group-
MHI turbos (16g, EVOIII 16g, 20g)

And Dsmperformance turbos in the:

-Junk Turbo Group-
MUTT's

What is not obvious is that Bullseye and DSMperformance are in bed together, trying to re-market they're version of the bolt on Garrett. Are you sure this is true?

These should be a great thread... Also long as people that have personal experence with the turbo speak up and people that are just blowing hot air stay silent.

My personal experience with the Mutt turbos must be in the minority, because the Mutt I had was on my car for two years and then sold it. I never had a problem with it and that included 30 psi runs on that turbo. This is my personal experience.

I now have an HX35 with the Bullseyepower turbine housing. I have had it on for over a year now (my 2G) and LOVE it. I have ran a 7.63 in the 1/8 mile with it on pump gas.

I also have a Vtrim (my 1G) I have not had it long enough to give much feedback.

These are my personal experiences. What is everyone elses?

You can praise/rant turbos all you want in this thread but the first time someone mentions a company in a negative/positive way (which has already) I will lock this thread.

So you have 2 choices:

1.Tell me to edit out all reference's to business' customer service from the thread

2.Tell me to lock this thread

Considering that many turbos are proprietary, either in design or simply in name, you might as well lock it now because I don't see how I can say I'm happy or disappointed with an FPgreen (for example) without naming a company. Yes, I could say I love my "50 trim" but I believe that not all turbos with the same wheels are created equal. There are too many variables at play. Why not let it ride and see what plays out?

That's fine.

I can say I bought "Xcompany" turbo and it blew after 10 miles so it wasn't that good.

What I don't want to here is, I bought a turbo from "Xcomapny" and they never answer e-mails,phone calls. Or shipping took too long. Or I have a personal grudge against "Xcompanies" employee.

In that case then option #1. but I get the feeling #2 will come shortly.

I have a mutt turbo and I like it. I was told I was buying a frank 5 turbo but after taking it apart, realized it was a mutt. It defenitly pulls harder than my new 50 trim I had.

I am not trying to single out any companies, as good or as shiesty as they may be.

This thread is only for people's experience with certain turbos, to help clear up the whole turbo-bandwagon style of purchasing a turbo for one's car.

If there are any people that can put up some of their MHI (16g, 18g, 20g) dyno sheets?
I would appreciate it greatly.

Please don't lock this thread, and its good intent, when you let another thread go on for 37 pages about nothing.

Now, the people that have there bolt-on Garretts. did you follow the install procedure by feeding the oil from the oil filter housing and such? Cause My Mutt blew up, but then again some other peoples MUTT's have been on their cars for years

Can you garrett users elaborate a little more?

I am trying to stay away from too many "Pulls harder then my (xx turbo) did" comments.

Thanks! :thumb:

#1 done. Sorry Nick but I have to be fair. PM me if you want to talk more.

I don't have any numbers to speak of only seat of the pants impressions.

I've had 3 turbos in my DSM time.

#1 Mutt level2. Yes I bought a mutt when they first came out. I didn't have the turbo long enough to get any real inmpressions because a great deal came around #2. I don't know if it ever blew up. I don't remember seeing a post about it, nor did the person I sold it too ever PM me about it.

#2 AGP L2R. I won't go into detail here since you can read my review in the tech articles section.

#3 AGP 50-trim garret kit. This turbo was great, Spooled quickly, not as much boost repsonse between shifts as the dual-BB turbo but pulled harder on pump gas than the L2R since it's more pump gas friendly and the L2R loves race gas(if had saved my logs I would post them). My 50-trim was feed from the oil filter housing.

I'm back on the T-25 as I was planning on parting out and selling the car but about 3/4 of the way through it I decided to keep the car.

As I said no hard numbers on any of the turbos just my impressions YMMV

i have had the evoIII 16g for a while now and i just turned the boost up to 20 and it is amazing i havnt got any times on it yet i wanted to but it has been raining every day here in phx i dont know whats going on. :laser:
