Hi all, I plan to get a 14b for my '97 GST Spyder, not sure if it's worth it for the extra power gained from replacing T-25 for ~$90. I have only intake and BOV mods now, planning to get turbo back exhaust, intercooler piping, boost controller, and guages soon. Goal is about 300 fwhp, I know with bigger hp my wheels will spin like crazy so that's my goal for now.

Will get the oil feed lines and water lines from the buyer, what else do I need from his car? The J Pipe is not from a '90 GST right? Also do I need the exhaust/turbo manifold from him?

Thanks in advance for any input. :thumb:

Yes, get his j-pipe (turbo outlet pipe.) It's small, but it'll get the job done.

You will have to file the holes (or get his) on the oil return line. I just filed mine.

You do not need his exhaust manifold.

I thought it was a good upgrade, especially if, like you and me, had for cheap.

thanks for the input. how much gain I can expect after putting on the 14b without any other mods? I read somewhere people with a 14b and basic mods like turbo back, boost controller, uicp, bov, without fuel upgrade got as much as 240 whp. I'm also looking to get an uicp, I'm not sure if this one is for 1g or 2g, picture is attached so pls comment on it. If it's for 1g, can I use it for 2g? I'm not sure if the uicp is the same for both. Thanks.

well i a 14B in good condition should flow 405cfm a T-25 flows 250cfm. You should notice a noticble difference just dont expect ground-shattering power. As for the UICP it looks nothing like my greddy so my guess it might be a 1G

sounds good. will stock SMIC sufficient for 14b if I"m going to make like 260 fwhp with other support mods on the turbo? I'm looking at a greddy FMIC and a SMIC now but not sure if I need it for the 14b.
Also, for the greddy intercooler UICP, do you think a 1G Bov can be put on it? I know it's flanged for only Greddy BOV, but I thought both Greddy and 1G Bovs were very similar.

Thanks guys.

That pipe is a 1g for sure. The stock SMIC should be enough to reach your goals for now so put your money elsewhere. I believe the greddy BOV boltholes are closer together than those on a 1g which may make compatability a challenge, not to say it can't be done...

hey.

you can switch from a 1g bov flange to a greddy flange..but not vice versa

well it might be possible, but u would have like JB weld the greddy holes shut..and then pray theres enough room on the flange to drill holes on the outside of the greddy ones

I finally got my 14b turbo today, but I think I got ripped cuz the thing doesn't look like what I expected. I bought it from a dsmtuners.com member here, he said it's a complete 14b turbo with "J" pipe, oil feed/return lines, and water lines included. From the pictures below, I'm pretty sure the "J" pipe is not there, and also the exhaust housing of the turbo, but do I get all the oil/water lines? I'm new to DSM so someone with more knowledge please provide your input. Also, without the exhaust housing can I bolt it on to replace my T-25?

Thanks!!

with proper fuel, tunning, intake, exhaust and intercooler you could pull 300 whp but that would be pushing it to the limit and thats with race fuel. so if your on pump and running a lot of boost Id say 270-280 would be your best at the wheels. I was told a while ago that the difference btwn a s16g and a b16g was about 15hp...and thats 45 cfm difference so it will be a prettyy big difference...not ground shattering like said before but noticable.
Andrew

you can use your old water lines but youll need to bend them, youll also need a new oil feed line, and a different exhast gasket, and you can use your old t25 o2 housing. so with that and a turbione housing youll be set.
