I get in to drive go down the road floor it for maybe 5 seconds and when i left off the gas...car keeps going! It only happens at wide open throttle. Sometimes it does it for only a few seconds and stops but other time for longer.
I almost go in an accident when I was approching a stale greenlight. i forgot and floored it to make the light but then it went yellow so i go to let off the gas and it kept going. light turns red so im forced to push in the clutch and slam on the brakes. the engine bounced off the rev limiter a whole bunch and finally stopped. I ended up half way in the intersection before stopping, luckily it had just went red so the cross traffic was still going slow enough to see me and stop.
Im thinking it may be the throttle cable because its a car with cruise and there is so much cable and motors and stuff between the gas pedal and the throttlebody. Also i checked the springy-ness of the throttlebody and it was fine, but the throttle cable seemed kinda loose.
Anybody have this problem? Any ideas? HELP! THIS PROBLEM IS DANGEROUS :thumbdown

If you have a floormat check to make sure it's not sliding forward and catching the pedal when you floor it.
