I was installing some gauges in my 97 awd talon and everything was working like it was supposed to. I finished installing them and everything was working like it should. I was about to put back all the plastic trims pieces back on but then i noticed that my oil temp gauge and boost gauge won't light up anymore when i turn the lights on I was like WTF!? These gauges are located on my triple a pillar. Then i noticed my power locks started acting like they had poltergeist or something. I would push the button to lock it but they would automatically unlock by themselves. I noticed this loud click coming behind the stereo when this happened so i looked for where the sound was coming from. It turned out to be this tiny black box with a white arrow pointing upwards that was making the clicking sound. The wierd part I turned the car on after it warmed up i turned it off and the locks started working again like they should but the little black box made a really LOUD clicking sound that i had never heard before. My power mirrors also stopped working. I had the oil temp gauge light hooked to the light wire from the power mirror button and the boost gauge light from the light wire to the cruise control button. The boost and oil temp are Gloshift tinted gauges. I unhooked those two gauges from their light source and hooked them up to the light source from the cig lighter to see if it would work, it didn't. I also have megan racing oil pressure and water temp gauges on my gauge bezel pod connected to the cig lighter ignition wire(these don't need an illumination wire they just use the 12v ignition to light up and work), and a megan air fuel accompanying the glowshifts on the pillar but it wasn't affected. The only thing that doesn't work right now are the power mirrors and the oil temp and boost gauge won't light up when i turn the lights on. I looked at and tested every fuse and there are absolutely no blown fuses. I have everything hooked up properly-12v ignition, ground, illumination. Did i just fry the light bulb from the gauges? I installed VDO gauges on my friends 97 talon with identical wire setup to mine and he's got no problems. I could also tell that someone has messed with this little black box because the screws were overthightened to the point that the head of the screw was half scraped off. What do you guys think? If i just burned the light bulb, where can i get some? Or did I fry the two gauges and need to buy new ones?
