Gauge Illumination Problem

I just reinstalled my Glowshift gauges after fixing the shotty wiring that the previous owner of my car had done. Yes, I know that this has been covered numerous times and yes, I searched. I have the 7 color boost and oil pressure gauges.
The ground is bolted to the chassis.
The 12v switched is tapped into the green with white line wire on the cigarette lighter.
The 12v constant is plugged in with the fuse for the cigarette lighter.

When I turn the switch for my headlights, the needle on the gauges lights up but I dont have any background color. Does anyone know where im going wrong here?

I dont need all 7 colors, white will do(in fact, these gauges are just here temporarily until I buy better quality ones).

I spliced mine into my light dimmer. Both positive and ground. They work fine.

Does the backlighting start when your lights are off?

And might have been wise to touch them to the battery to make sure they worked and ran there startup sequences before reinstalling them.

You press the button to change the color. You have power to the gage because your needle lights up, so I believe your gage is done. Does the needle move while you drive.

if you have a small motorcycle battery, hook that to your leads to see if it lights. Always possible that your fuse for the cig lighter blew, or the tap is loose if it is not soddered

Neither the cigarette lighter nor and its fuse are 12V constant. I've actually run a 10ga wire from my battery in to a distribution block for all the things that I have that need 12V constant.

I use the cigarette lighter for the 12V switched stuff though.

And for ground, I use a bolt in the foot well area that I've tested for resistance to the - battery terminal.
