gas tank pressure [Merged 2-9] vent venting

having never owned a turbo'd car before, i dont know if this is a normal thing or not....but its sorta weird, so lets see if anyone else experiences this...
when i get gas, a hissing sound can be heard while the cap is being unscrewed. (it is very similar to opening a bottle of pop for the first time)
anyone know why this occurs or if it is a forecast of problems for the fuel system??

Thats normal in every car, in fact it will probably still do it at least a little bit with a near full tank.

The hissing is the gas pressure escaping out the cap as you turn it. Its nothing to be concerned about.

Id be happier hearing it than not hearing it... it means that your tank is holding pressure and there is no leaks. ... Thats a good thing by the way.

Yea..I've never heard this come out of any other car but mine.

^^^ agreed, my talon was the only car i've ever put gas into that did the hiss.
and I'm just going to assume my 3 week old Altimas gas tank is in good shape.

maybe b/c they are turbo and run higher pressures han n/a cars?
my turbo isthe only onethat hisses like a snake for about 3 seconds, but some other efis ive driven did it too, mostly chrysler products.

Everytime I Open my gas lid it's hard to get loosened and their's pressure build up, Is this normal? I put a lil pin hole in one of the lines coming off the tank and it seems to be easier on gas when it's not pressureized. Thenb I fille dit up and gas came out of that pin hole and I had to fix it and now it seems to be hard on gas like before.

check your fuel pressure regulator. possible problem

Where is the Fuel pressure regulator located at? I was thinking maybe the vent is plgged on the gas tank but I could be wrong.

on my 1g it is located on the fuel rail check there

Everytime that I go to fill up in my 98 GST, I'll start pumping gas and on almost every dollar while holding the nozzle all the way down, there will be so much air pressure that it will push the gas back up and hit the end of hte nozzle and cut the gas flow off so I'll have to wait for the air to seap out and then start again.. Or, I'll just slowly feed gas in ever so slowly, but man it sucks taking 10 mins to fill up

Any ideas on what is causing this and how to fix it?

Check the gas tank breather hose near the top of the filler neck. It seems like that is clogged somehow, happened to my boat.

Take it off and try to blow through it.

Yeah get the fuel low in the tank and remove the filler neck and see if theres any cloggs

sorry.. So how hard is it to remove it? and if its clogged...? take a clothes hanger to it?
