FWD Sucks!

i i have mid 12 second 90 gsx, and i love awd, and i recently bougt a 95 tsi with no motor, for $300, dropped a motor in it, $200 later. all it has is a intake, a boost gauge, and controller, and a greddy lower Intercooler pipe clean all leather, brand new clutch, and a perfect shifting tranny. and i finally took the car out for a drive, i give it some time for everything to break in, then i punch it, in 3rd gear, mind you it's a little wet out, and the tires just start spinning, my planns were to throw a 14b on it, and gut the cat, and maybe, and i have a spare 1g bov, som maybe planned on grabbing a upper I/C pipe. but i think all that is out of the question, because It cant get any traction, i understand that it could use some nicer tires, but thats my story and i think im gonna sell the car, for $3500
thats my story. the moral is, im DONE with fwd.
any input?

You might want to try better tires first. I have a FW drive 2g Eclipse running a ported Evo III 16G and I have no problems slipping unless I floor it when I am at a light. My tires will need to be replaced in the next 6 months, but I still get enough traction, even in the snow. AWD would be nice, but I heard the repairs on the AWD are a lot more.

Yes you might wanna look into getting some performance tires. Im running goodyear F1 and it performs well on most surfaces.
There was a topic in the handling section that outlined the various performance tires you might wanna look there.

Good tires are a must with a FWD car. especially one putting out alot of power, you could get a LSD installed that will help with traction, my only major pet peave with FWD is the spin off the line looses you precious time (although it looks impressive, or stupid depends on your point of view) good tires stronger then stock motor mounts and finesse with the throttle and knowing what the car is capable off is the key, I believe there are several ppl that have posted on vfaq about how to overcome these problems with a fwd car. Although I would love to have a AWD Talon or Eclipse, I think I will first see what I can do with my FWD cars first.

My car has bald tires and it doesn't spin in third gear........even when it's wet outside. I only got a downpipe and intake on it. And I doubt that it's too slow or that there's anything wrong with it since I raced a wrx from a dig (ON BALD TIRES) which is supposed to do 14.6quarter mile and he ended up getting me by only 1.5 cars.
I took that wrx from a roll (20mph), no problem.

So yeah, I'm pretty sure I would've done better with better tires. If you don't like FWD stop bitchin and stick with your AWD........seriously.

Just because that happened is no reasoon to give it up,,its just a little different than what your used to once you get the hang of it..maybe try it when its completly dry outside and see what it does..i know i usually dont"punch it'' when its wet outside..
