hey, just got a e3 16g and fmic with ic pipes in today and was wondering about the fuel situation that I will be confronted with once I install this turbo.... I have done quite a bit of searching but havnt found the right answers to these questions but here goes. I am upgrading from my 14b. I had and still have a 190 lph installed and by what I read in VFAQ a 190lph on 93 octane stock injectors the 14b can be ran at 18psi. Which is what iv been running for months now and no problems! Just changed the plugs yesterday and they dont look leaned out at all. Neways I now realize that the 16g i got wont runn anywhere near that with just a 190lph. I was planning on ordering some injectors soon (along with a logger & afc later on) and was wondering on what size I should go with either 550 or 650 and what boost pressure can be ran at either one. And for the mean time, what should I run this 16g at with just a 190lph? Check the mods in my profile if your wonderin I would love to see upwards from 300 hp. Thanks for your help. lata

If you only want 300 whp then a rewired 190 lph and 550cc will be fine, however you will begin running out of fuel once you start reaching the upper bounds of the turbo. For the average (~35 or so lbs/min airflow) you will be fine with what you're looking at now. If you really want to make some big power though you'll definitely need the 650cc injectors and a bigger fuel pump.

At the time, with your stock injectors, I would say keep the boost low since that turbo will easily outflow your stock injectors.

what kind of power do you think 650's would produce? and oh yeah I just found some info that I should run MAX 14 psi on the 16g and watch for boost creep

If you want to max out the evo III i'd get 650. Your going to need your safc and logger before you throw these in. yeah i wouldn't go above 14psi definitely with stock injectors. And if you plan on updating your turbo again you might want to think about larger injectors. I think 550's will push at least 20psi on that turbo though. It depends what you want.

I would ask first what was your injector duty cycle when you were running the 14b @ 18psi on your 190lph/450cc setup. But you don't have a logger yet, so I recomend you to get one as your next mod, that way you could install your 16g/fmic, lower your boost to a safe 14psi and watch your duty cycle and raise the boost accordingly.

Now, as far as upgrading the injectors, well if you're going to make an expense you may as well get the best setup for that turbo wich is 650's, that way eventually when you get all your supporting mods you will be able to max it out with out running out of fuel, 550cc are good, but not enough for an E316G turbo.

ps: when you upgrade injectors your car tends to act up a bit if you don't tune it right, I'd recommend get a keydiver chip, that will help alot with bigger injectors. Believe makes things alot easier.

well come to think of it 650's arent much more than 550's anyways so I may just go with 650's

my setup i ran a 510's eIII stock injectors , walbro 255, sard regulator set at 40spi , got it tuned , i ran 1.7bar without probs , of cos with a OEM eIII 16g

That is fine, however with 650's and a SAFC you will see increases in timing since you have to take out 31% fuel (which is good and bad). If you can keep knock down then you will make great power, but if you start getting knock then pulling timing is not an option to get rid of it. With that being said, many people have said they run 650's without any problem--your results may vary.

You also mentioned boost creep which the E16G just happens to be the king of. If you plan on installing it right away before you receive your fuel mods then I would highly suggest some heavy boost creep preventitive porting to make your life alot easier. There are alot of links around our community that can show you how to do this. If you need them, I can dig them up for you.

The last thing Oldman needs is another "Help I have boost creep" thread although Im sure he would jump in headfirst.

thanks for replies but is boost creep more of a problem in manuals than autos cause I have 3" 2.5" catback and have never ever seen any sign of boost creep...thanks

Well you last statement did not make any sense. 3" 2.5"?

Anywho, back on topic.

You should be fine with stock injectors on the E16G with just a fuel pump at 17-18 psi.
550's and a fuel pump will get you to about, 20-21 psi
660's will be good up to 26 psi, but thats stretching the effeciency of the E16G.
