fuel pump not pressurizing

no, fuel filter is a k@n and i have taken it apart to verify that it is not clogged. i am curious though that all it had in the filter was a screen and nothing else. would that be normal for a k@n filter with 6 an fittings?

maybe you need to clean your injectors. Have you rewired your pump? also you could have a fuel leak in your lines somewhere. check for leaks and clean your injectors then see if that helps. A visual inspection of a fuel filter wont tell you if it is clogged or not, blow through that sucker and see if it resists.

when the ignition is turned on you should hear the fuel pump energize and pressurize the line. i do not hear this happen. although once car is started the fuel pump works correctly. could the person who i bought the car from have wired the fuel pump wrong when he did the rewire, or is there something else that i am overlooking.

I have a walbro 190lph and I never can hear my fuel pump. A 255lph pump, I hear is noisy though. But I would'nt go with the noise factor. You need to check all your fuel lines for leaks. Make sure your timing is set at 5 degrees too. Then make sure your injectors are clean. Make sure the vacuume line to your fpr doesnt have a leak either

^You're missing his point. The pump doesn't even TURN ON when he turns the ignition on.

Mine workst he exact same way. Ignition on, nothing. But when I turn it to start, the pump operates normally. I actually made a post about this when I first got my car. I was told the pumps in these cars have an oil pressure safety switch. If there is no oil pressure, the pump turns off. This prevents it from making a flame thrower should you get into an accident and break a fuel line. So without the engine cranking, the pump won't turn on.

Sounds reasonable to me, so I never questioned it again.

^^Same here. Our Talons fuel pump only comes on when the key is to start, had MANY cold start issues where it seemed the fuel was bleeding back to the tank, and would take a while to start after sitting. Changed the fuel pump o-ring, checked all connections for leaks, and finally got everything where no air is getting into the line and it stays pressurized. Check everything to be tight, and it should fix the problem.

ill check the o ring. changed fuel pump from a 255 ho to a regular 255. maybe in doing that the o ring did not seal correctly. thanks.
The o-ring tends to twist when you push it in the fuel line hood (happened to me).
Give it a bit of vasoline or motor oil and should be good next try :dsm:

I have this same problem to and it happend when I installed an AFPR. I am using the one that FIC sells in there kit and I dont think it holds pressure as well as the more expensive one I may be wrong but my pressure drops right when I shut the motor down. If I had a leak I could see or smell fuel and do not anywere? Yea im kind of PO about going with a cheeper kit.
