Fuel Line/Fuel Filter Problem

I was changing the fuel filter, and the fuel line that goes into the bottom of the fuel filter was a pain in the ass to get on. Anyways I went to put the fuel line back into the bottom of the new filter and the banjo nut or whatever just spins it doesnt seal.

Is there a way to put like a AN fitting on the bottom of the filter and one on the fuel line?

What are my options to change this out without having to replace the whole fuel line.

First you need to see if the threads on the filter are messed up or the flare nut is messed up. That will determine if the filter just needs to be replaced or you are going to have to replaced some of the fuel line itself. Did you make sure to clean the threads on the flare nut before trying to reinstall?

Worse case senario, you'll need to buy a new threaded nut and re-flare the fuel line

Or you can cut and reflare the line if it's all buggered up. I had to do this

Yep I gotta get a new fuel filter, threaded nut and reflare the line.

Question... Where do I get the threaded nut. (Its the one that goes into the bottom of filter)


and how do I flare the line after I cut it?

I'm not sure where to get a nut but here is a little 'how to' on flaring the line. Basically you just cut the line (make sure its a good 3inches of stright line because you need to fit the nut AND the clamp/vice on), then put the nut on, and clamp the end with the appropriate fitting (black pieces in the how to). Then is a rough processes (because of tight workable area) of keeping the clamp/vice tight while flaring out the line.
