I drive a 98 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS-T with 65,000 miles on it and just finished upgrading to a ACT 2600 clutch kit, ACT x-act Flywheel, new slave cyl, throw-out bearing, clutch fork and piviot ball. Now for the problem diag...So everything checked out fine and drove perfect for about 250-300 miles for break in period. Then once I started to get on it(running with a S16g at 16-18 boost), I noticed that around 5,000-5,500 rpm in 3rd gear mostly I get either something similar to fuel cut, where the car suddenly jerks forward and seems like it just hit a brick wall or something. Just need to know if its something w/ the tranny work or something that deals w/ my AFC controller and its tuning? Thanks for your help...:dsm:

The hitting a brick wall feeling is almost synonymous with fuel cut. Im thinking if it was your tranny giving you those problems, you'd know it. And it wouldnt be only giving you problems in certain gears at certain rpms. What other kind of tuning tools do you have besides an AFC? Logger, wideband, anything else? I highly doubt its tranny, but if you have changed nothing besides tranny parts and weren't having these problems before the upgrades, then I could sure be wrong too. Did you try cranking down the boost and seeing if you were still hitting the wall?

I don't think your problem is with your tranny. I think you have a boost leak or a tunning issue. Visually check vacuum hoses and lines. Then pressure test your system. I was hitting fuel cut myself, fixed all my leaks and my car boosts perfect. It's something simple just check all your basis. Good luck.

Thanks, ya I also have a Zetronix wide-band controller that Ill be tuning this weekend ### the weather is supposed to get nice again here. But Ill keep posting and let you know if it keeps happening when I tune it properly. Was just wondering, because everytime it seems I accel into 3rd gear everything is fine, until I hit around 5,000 or so rpm then it hits the brick wall. Also, possible boost leak, or what should I be looking for to solve my problem?

How do you properly "pressure test your system" for boost leaks? I know this is a newbie question, but I like to do things right the first time. Thanks again guys for all the advice!
