My car (91 Laser FWD turbo). I posted earlier about it sputtering at around 4k for reasons unknown. I checked the wires, plugs, ect. Put new NGK's in for good measure. Then thought about the old gas, put in stome fuel stabilizer ran it for about 30 min around town and it ran great. The next day it started again. It runs fine sometimes and then other times it breaks up at 4k. I dont have anything to check for boost leaks, or to pull codes (CEL has not come on) so I am going to check all of the vaccuum lines and hoses to look for any cracks or tears. I am at my wits end. Just a thought, could I be fuel cut? What should the vaccuum read on the boost gauge at idle??

Sorry to be repetitive with the post

Mods are as follows:
High flow muffler
Free mods
Airbox hack
hollow cat
boost gauge

You said it ran fine for a while after driving it with some fuel aditive? and then it started acting up again?, then you might want to start by replacing your fuel filter, and have your fuel pump pressure check by your mechanic, or if you can just go ahead and replace it witha high flow one...

now if you're a "hands on" kind of guy, try this:
Get under your car, spray the fuel pump screws with some good wd40 or something similar... soak em' again... and again and again... because believe me, they're stuck there... let the fluid penetrate the screws and spary them again, try to use unly as much to keep the screws wet but dont just spray to waste the wd40, get you a good gripping screwdriver, and press down strongly while trying to remove the screws, you gotta put some force or you'll end up stripping them, wich is bad news... long story short, remove your fuel pump (be careful not to drop dirt into the tank while getting it out) remove and clean the little baggie filter thing, that thing gets clogged with floating crap from the tank, also the fuel pump inlet screen, that should help.
PS: dont try this if dont have any idea how to do it.

This helped solve problem like the one your having...

good luck

Yes, I have went through a tank sice it first started.. drove it to work today :thumbdown still runs horrible. I guess I am going to go get a fuel filter and slap it on but I dont think it will help. If it doesnt I guess pulling the tank will be next  I called the guys at advanced discount auto parts to see if they would hook that computer thing to it..They told me unless the CEL is on it will not pick up anything
