the idea with the DSM logo sounds great in the front bumper but its just not me, i dont do stickers or any other logos on my vehicles, and although i have owned this 2g for less than 2 months i owned a 3g for over 3 years and spent well over 10g customizing it as well as the 4g64 motor.

now to explain why the 4g64 would be better after a mild build... the 4g64 utilizes a longer stroke as well as a 10:1 compression ratio, now i know the compression ratio may be a bit higher than the 4g63 but you can port and polish the heads and what not during the build to change this. the 4g64 platform can be run UP TO 17psi on STOCK internals and the cranks have been tested up over 1000hp and never broke or spun a rod. my idea was to always take the evo 8 set up as well as DOHC head and transfer it all to the 4g64 and build it up from there, and as far as making it fit in the 2g motor bay goes, anything can be done with some skill and alot of time and patience. you guys all build the 4g63 but take a look into the 4g64 do a little research its a great platform, it was built for a turbo and never got to see one from the factory.....lame.... and the 6g72 nonsense, thats where the eclipses started going down hill...... granted the 4g63 is a great engine ive just heard such horrific stories of all the problems that they have and the crank walk issues. this is not to say im against them i just dont have one, instead i have a built, turbo-ready 420a, but once again guys dont discard an idea just because you dont know of the possibibility of it

:cry: woa man. u might be confused. you live your life a quarter mile at a time too right?

I would just stick to making your car look fast ("One of a Kind"), not trying to actually make car your fast.

This must be embarrassing for the N/T owners who aren't retarded. You should sell your eclipse and buy a Honduh. I hear the ones with single over heads cams respond to boost well.

Thanks for mentioning the 4g64 btw. I've been looking for a stock motor that can hold over 17psi!!! God knows the 4g63 can't. I tried to launch my car the other day and I heard a loud BANG! Then I saw my crank in the lane next to me just walking away. The 420a I was racing still lost to my crank though.

Look at both 420a and 4g64 engines and tell me how will you do that swap???

explain this as well please!
Funny thread you have here by the way.

4g64 better than the 4g63?????? why is the 4g63 the fastest 4cyl in the world look it up.

well my first eclipse was a 99 gs, fell in love with it, just the way it looked. And also the way it felt just to sit in it. I knew that the "turbo hood" was indeed meant for cam gears and when I looked under the hood and saw that my cam gears were on the other side I said WTF? It wasn't until I got into my gst and realized that the engines looked flip flipped as compared to the chrysler motors.

But I did ask what you had done to your car to make it faster then our boosted cars and you weren't very specific, that's why your catching flack about it. also popping off that "they" can't afford custom paint and installation when you clearly know this is a tuner's site not a painter's site, is not a good way to make friends. Most of these guys spend their money on performance.

I can't speak for all states but here in GA you don't see many cars with body kits anymore, it all got ruined, it was cool back before and when fast and furious first came out. People just way over did it. I don't mind slight changes in the body but I don't like full blown kits because of what I just stated.

actually my 4g64 looks nothing like that! thats a completely different set up! mine looks like this

thats a 3g engine bay!!
I am not sure if the motor mounts will fit in your 420a Engine bay, as well as what transmission you coould use.

Now explain please.

i am really not sure as well, and yes it is my 3g! i have it laying around after it was totaled, im just playing with the idea of putting the motor in if i ever blow up the 420a after i turbo it, but looking at the pics, it looks like it might go right in, BESIDES THE MOUNTS!!!!!! so yes ide need to do some welding and fabricating but hey no custom work is fun without a challenge right LOL

WTF Did you do to that poor car?! Holy.. that thing is f@#$ing ugly.

Also, youve had the car for a month and havent done any maintenance before a body kit?

Tonight, I pray for your car, and any others like it.

You would have to use the 3G trans, which is nowhere near as strong as a DSM turbo trans. And your still FWD. Gobs of torque + turbo = Zero traction. You all run into the issue of wiring and EMS, which you would likely end up using a turbo DSM ECU and harness.

First, the 4g64 does not have 10:1 compression, it's 9.5:1 with the exception of some Galants which have 9.8. And no, you cant bring the CR down a significant amount by grinding out the combustion chamber. Second, PSI does not break engines, power and knock do. I do agree the 4g64 is a superior street engine. But all the bad things youve heared from the 4g63 apply to the 4g64 as well. I mean, you do realize the 4g63 head is usually swapped onto the block, right?

This thread is such fail.

OP - Your "unique" n/t Eclipse with a body kit...is so played out its not even funny.

And you NEED to get over the fact that you have a shaved rear windows. Ive seen it a million times!

I ROFL so hard I :barf:

This is without a doubt the best post on this thread.

To the OP, I fail to see how installing bumpers off ebay and spray-painting your interior makes it custom.. And you just lost all credibility and any possible 4g63-driving supporters who also happen to like body kits when you said "i have this car fully built my 420a engine probably would keep up with if not beat some of your 4g63s assuming you guys havent built them up to 400hp LOL"

This'll give ya proven member status in no time. ROFL

In all honesty, we love these cars mostly stock because the body flows absolutely flawlessly. Such bodacious curves coupled with a hint of aggressiveness. The major factor here however is that all of the parts are not just aesthetically pleasing, but look like they belong on the car. If you look at your bumper (that's all I will talk about to save time and thread space), it ruins the continuity of the body. It looks like somebody pulled a bumper off of another car and molded it to the front of the stock one. It is flat on top like it was intended to double as a chair, and to put it lightly just looks out of place.

does anyone else get tired of seeing this on the main discussion board? Lol

YES.
