i am thinking about cutting the part of the front body kit that is BETWEEN the two headlights and touches the hood, and custom fabricating some sort of grill, KIND of like the new Nissan GTR but done up custom has anyone ever done this or thought of doing this?

Best suggestion I think would be to find a bumper that's already messed up and hack it up. I had a Dakota that I did that to and hated it afterwards, so I had to spend some coin to get a new one to replace something I should have left alone. Find one that's been curbed bad or is damaged where you plan to cut, and go nuts

well thats a good idea, i have another aftermarket bumper but i accidentally ripped off the mounting points but i think i could still make it have a custom grill without the middle mount points, my question now is what should i use to make a grill, i dont want JUST a mesh i need to have some kind of square insert to put in that i can apply a grill into!

amazing I try to strip weight and you add it on LOL. well just my opinion but I think you should leave the front bumper alone, it has enough going on. I think i would customize the hood in some kind of way. maybe a bad ass hood scoop or something totally custom of course.

btw I like the steering wheel, where did you get that?

actually the bumpers weigh less than stock, around 12-15 lbs, have fiberglass fenders i had the rear windows and Door handles shaved as well, weight is not my concern the motor is BUILT and ready for a turbo, the steering wheel i actually picked up on ebay you can get one on Andy's Auto Sport Body Kits - Your Body Kit Superstore! but ebay is alright for alot of things just NOT performance parts! unless they are brand name!

as far as the hood goes it already has the Turbo hood with the classic Bump on the right hand side, i thought about doing a scoop in that but it would be right in the line of the ECU and battery so BAD idea LOL!

I'm very familiar with the bay. I was refering to that gigantic wing as far as weight. what did you have in mind for the front bumper? something right?

oh the spoiler LOL! yeah thats about 10 lbs im not really worried about it as For ever 100 lbs u remove from the car it only adds 1/10th of a second on the quarter mile. doesnt make too much of a difference, but yea i mean the area directly in the center of the bumper IN BETWEEN the headlights the part that petrudes upwards i want to cut out a small portion all the way across and make a custom grill in there with some sort of Emblem in the middle,
SOMETHING LIKE THIS!

BUT I DONT THINK ITS EVER BEEN DONE!

I like it on the nissan but I just don't see your vision on the eclipse, post pics when your done, wouldn't mind seeing what you come up with

thats the thing im just apprehensive about chopping up the brand new body kit i just put on LOL, maybe i will try it on my 3g first or something idk the Spare body kit i have for the 2g even! its just gonna be a pain in the ass either way! winters coming tho im gonna have to put this car away for a few months! ive only owned it one month and done all the work that is done already, im about 5000 Dollars deep in this month and the car has had an AMAZING transformation! all it needs is side skirts and Custom paint! i thought about doing a roof scoop but idk it may add ALOT of drag that would be a bad idea, would look nice, if not i want to have a sunroof put in!

IVE GOT IT! i can take the Front body kit off my 3g eclipse (which doesnt have the upraised spot where the headlights go) and try it with that but idk if it will bolt up right LOL

Save your time and money man.. the hood is not a "turbo" hood.. all 2gthe eclipses and talons had the "turbo bump" (actually for the cam gears) whether they were boosted or not.. i personally hate seeing bodykits on DSM's boosted or not.. :barf:

Except for the fact that I've seen TONS of eclipses with the same front bumper and wing that you have. There is no such thing as different unless it's a one off custom. Just remember that.

I would actually look into the new scion tC's for some inspiration. The tC has simular dimentions to the 2g dsm that may be the look your going for. Personally the open front end with just the center section filled in for the crash bar is done. Other then the tC the new eclipses did it and the GTR like you mentioned. I'd go for something else but if that's the look your dead set on have at it good sir.

yes and i cant agree with you more about how popular the blitz and bomber bumpers are, my car is already heavily customized inside and out, how many people have you seen shave the door handles AND rear side windows? it looks amazing. once i paint it in the spring it will be a true head turner, and agreed as well that the wing is used often but theres not much you can do for "custom" spoilers, i was actually thinking of going Widebody with fender flares and getting some staggered rims and doing it right, but as it is right now im scraping the front bumper on alot of things as i have the car lowered on fully adjustable coilovers. but thats yet another winter project. the possibilities are endless! i have this car fully built my 420a engine probably would keep up with if not beat some of your 4g63s assuming you guys havent built them up to 400hp LOL, all i need is a turbo and i will probably be running 12's to low 13's :hellyeah:

I want the mellenium wing, it's a bit like a whale tail for a mustang but it's for an eclipse, that will be all I will do to the body. but as far as yours goes since you have all that stuff done to the body why not shake things up above the rear quarters just below where the hatch sits, it looks pretty plain there. especially seeing as how you have no door handles, it's just a lot of smooth metal, I'm sure you could do something there.

What all do you have done to the motor being that you say it will outrun a lot of our boosted cars?

Hmmmm. Ok LOL. Anyone else want to chime in on this? ROFL
There are only 8 n/t's on this site that are recorded into 13's or faster. Hopefully you will be the 9th. http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/timeslips.php?&do=420a

you can say body kits are lame all you want, its what i like to do so im gonna continue to do it. and so far with the engine ive had the Cylinders bored 30 over (ported and polished heads)...forged rods, pistons and cranks, lightweight pullies installed, cam gears and cams installed. higher output fuel pump as well as injectors....ac and power steering removed (converted to manual steering via manual rack pinion and all other needed parts to make it run smooth without it, short shifter installed, the necessary racing plugs and wires as well as ignition coils. and alot more, basically i have the car Completely Built and ready for a turbo, as well as the outside almost ready for paint.

i can see alot of you guys are not ones to customize the outside but only under the hood but really thats fine, good for you. i can appreciate a nice car either way, but dont come on judging me for my preference in customization

All of this for a sub 14 sec 1/4 mile time. But whatever floats your boat. If you would put that money into a 4g63 you would have had a monster.
