I recently had my car start leaking oil everywhere and blowing it bad out the exhuast.A few months back installed a fram filter in the breather line apon board advice.I think it plugged up solid or something as all I know is pretty sure it was the cause of all my oil leaking and blowing out the tail.I removed it and run an rre breather catch can.I also have my pcv deleted and run a straight fitting. So can a totally sealed breather on the valve cover cause those symptoms or is it some weird coincidence?

I for sure would change those things out every month or so if you want to run one of the fram things.

there's a one way valve in the PCV so that it closes under boost, but aids in ventilating the crankcase during idle/off boost conditions. by putting straight fitting there it's pushing air into the crankcase during boost.

There's your problem. Every time you boost, you over-pressurize your crankcase. Good luck to not have blown your turbo seal and valve guide seals. You're also sucking all the nearby oil from your cam cover directly into your intake every time you produce any manifold vacuum.

I've found the Fram breather catch-can lasts for about a year, and needs changing only because it becomes unsightly.

I suggest most fervently that you invest some more time in learning what you're doing before putting a blanket condemnation on a simple intake-cleanliness step that every thinking DSM driver has had terrific success with for fifteen years.

I usually change mine when I change my oil. But yeah, they last quite a while

A bit of clarification guys.I deleted my pcv with straight fitting .I didn't hook it up like that to intake!!! I capped intake as per taboo site and vent the pcv thru a vented catch can from rre. Then it goes from catch can back to valve cover.

I tried the fram when just had line going to the ground and figured it was a bit cleaner than open line.I then left it in there when put in the catch can.I didn't have the fram on there all that long ,a few months but it was enough ,in my car at least to apparently clog up. Still would think this wouldn't matter if the pcv fitting was connecting to catch can with breather. So a bit perplexed now.Still it seems my smoking has stopped and excess leaking.
