Fp exhaust manifold bottom right bolt problem.

Hey guys, I have gotten the turbo manifold bolted up to the head and 3 of the 4 bolts tight on the turbo but I'm having a problem getting the bottom right bolt down on the fp exhaust manifold.

Was/is it hard for you guys to get that bottom right bolt down and tight? I can barely get my 14mm wrench on it and when I do I can only turn it 1/6 of a full rotation each time.

Is the housing strippped out on the turbo correct, take it out and make sure its lined up.

Its not stripped, I checked it when I took it off but that bolt is such a PITA to even work on. I will take it off again and retry it, I just got to wait till it stops raining again.

It's just hard to get to. I use a mini 14mm wrench till it's snug, then torque it with a full size 14mm wrench.

Yep...complete PITA.

I took a grinder to a 14mm box end wrench to thin it up on one side and take a little off the thickness. It works...mostly.

I love the FP manifold, but I think they could've done a bit better with that area.

Okay thanks didn't think of using a mini wrench on it. I will try that next.

I totally agree with you Calan on that. If they made that last runner up and over the 3rd runner by 1/2 inch, me and anyone with a FP manifold could just get a socket over it and call it a day.

Good advice... for any turbo/manifold bolts, or other places where stainless fasteners are used.

It also doesn't hurt to use some on spark plugs.

Only if you use the high temp copper stuff. In my experience, it seems like the normal stuff makes it worse for getting the bolts out than not using it when it gets hot.

I love Permatex stuff, i have imported a big box from USA recently !
I use it on everything subjected to hot temp ...

If you have a problem for instal one bolt, imagine for remove it after few month...

Personally, I just use the carded tubes of the standard stuff and have never had any issues...but YMMV of course.

An old hot-rodders trick: If you can't get to a parts store, liquid Maalox will also work.
