i work for forklift services of oregon, we are a caterpilar dealer. cat forklift is owned by mitsubishi. one of the most common engines is asohc 4g63. the block has 4g63 stamped on it. it looks like my talon block. my question is:can i use the plugs on this motor to do a balance shaft elimination? these motors dont have balance shafts, but they do have to block sections for it.

I highly doubt it.. They are SOHC motors, and as such, should be different.. You can always check the parts numbers and see if they are the same..

Measure and check. It is as simple as that.

I would reccomend checking for crank thrust bearing end play, as the propane powered 4G63's have experienced "crank walk" in cases.

My friend's shop had one where the fuel regulator crapped out, causing too much propane to enter at startup and shutdown, causing oil contamination, and the engine ended up wearing the thrust bearing completely through. It had around 1/4"-1/2" of crank end play. ROFL

wow.. Thats alot.. Almost like a bug motor.. Haha.. My boy is in to those, and the endplay on those cranks is real loose.. He said that they are just like that.. But haysus cristo!! 1/2 inch?
