Has anyone run these? I tried searching, but didn't find anything on them. If anyone has run them, what valve springs did you use? Will Crower springs with titanium retainers be adequate? Idle quality?

u should try the web cam cams.. they work perfect.. i dont have valves, retainers or anything and they're perfect.. best cams out there

I have been running the FP2 Cams in my car for 5 months now, they dropped right in, no need to degree them. I have crower springs and Ti retainers as well and so far everything has been working out very well. My current setup allows me to run 24psi on 94 pump gas daily with a max of 2 counts of knock @ the top of 3rd gear. The FP2's allow a ton more air to flow through the head, I regularly log Karmen Hz values above 3200Hz (thanks to a DSMchip eprom w/ 2x Karmen code). Idle is solid with only a tiny hint of a lump at 750rpm. The car still draws 18-21 in-Hg at idle warmed up to operating temp. All I can say is that I am glad I got the FP2's.

He's asking about the FP2x cams, not the FP2's.

That's ok Brian, When you goto the FP website and compare the graphs of the FP2's and the FP2x they are nearly identical. The FP2x's hold the intake and exhaust valves open just a slight bit longer than the FP2's. IMHO, My experience with the FP2's should at least give Dark_Horse a place to start when thinking about what cams to finally decide on.

from everything that I have read about the FP cams they seem like a great set of cams. They are pretty much the same as the 272's but with a little better engineering since the 272's were engineered a few years ago. Thats the cams that i plan on going with when I finally get some $$$ :(

I ended up getting the FP2x cams. I guess I'll be the Guinea pig. :)

I emailed FP and they said Crower springs were adequate to run the FP1x cams and in most cases the FP2x cams. Now I'm contemplating if "most cases" is an acceptable margin of error for me...

Dont run Crower springs they are not anyt better then the stock springs its a total waist of money. IMO supertech springs very good quality and have never had problems or heard of someone having problems.

Do you already have the springs installed? If not, I'd suggest going with a stiffer spring (stiffer than the crowers). If you do have them already, I'd try shimming them to get a little more seat pressure.

my98gst: I don't really think you fully understand the cams. FP cams are made by Comp cams. HKS is a different company/design. Yes all cams share similar properties, However the whole "newer engineering" doesn't make any sort of difference

Good luck with teh FP2x's hope they work out for you.

i believe it would if you would actually think about it. the 272's were manufactured 4-5 years ago where as the new FP's were made recently. Think about all of the different changes and modification that they could have learned from the older 272's to improve power, functuability(sp?) and just over all ability to make the car run better.

just my .02 flame away if you care to but thats what has been explained to me by a few mechanics.

Well I decided to go with double valve springs after all. The area these cams really shine over the 272's is above 7,000rpm. No sense in running the cams if you can't rev over 7000 for fear of valve float. The cams should be here today!!! I'll post a pic of them when they come in. :thumb:

you should use the Dual valve springs for this cams , i already have this cams with Supertech dual valve springs , it is awesome setup .
