Like the title says has anybody used a FMU like paxton, vortech, or obx on a 2g dsm. Do they help or just a waste of money and do they go in place of the fpr or in line with it.

I'll be as nice as I can about this. The purpose of an FMU is to increase fuel pressure as boost rises. You already have this in our stock FPR. Some are more complex than others and allow for a more aggressive ratio of increase in relation to positive pressure. Since our cars use a MAF and adjust fuel in relation to airflow as well as increase fuel pressure on a 1:1 ratio an FMU would not only be next to useless but I bet it would be a real pain in the ass to tune. Do some more research on how our car's fuel system works and go from there. :thumb:

Thakns for the info. The reason i asked is i went to a nearby import shop and asked them about a nos kit i bought and it had a the piece that connects to fpr to add fuel and they told me to ditch it and get an fmu which i neww our fpr changed as boost did.:thumb:

The "nos" kit that you are speaking of is what's known as a dry kit. Meaning to add the extra fuel to match the nitrous it upps the fuel pressure. A dry shot is not the safest way to add nitrous to a forced induction car. I won't get into how much easier and safer (relatively) it would be to mod your car in other ways. i will tell you that you need to do a lot more research before you even think about putting that nitrous kit on your car.
