Hey guys, I've been wanting to save up for a FMIC. I know for sure I want a blow-through gm MAF setup as well. I've researched all sorts of them by price, name, size, core type ect.. I'm down to a few options on how I want this FMIC to go. I found a couple of sites that have a decently cheap kit (compared to other kits) and wanted to know if you had any feedback on them.
Kit 1: http://www.extremeintercoolers.com/new_page_2.htm
Kit 2: http://ongreenperformance.com/FrameSets/1G Performance.htm
Has anyone done any business with either of these companies? I was looking for mostly a bar & plate type intercooler but these say they are a hybrid mix of bar & plate and tube & fin and was wondering also if those are any good?
One last group of questions is on building my own FMIC. I was thinking on buying a good intercooler then doing all of the piping myself to try to cut the costs down. I have a few questions on this.
1- What type of intercooler should I build my kit around? I was thinking IceVex (www.icevex.com) anyone have any feedback on them?
2- What bends would I need (other than J pipe) for a short route setup through the radiator core support.
3- Where is a good place to buy mandrel bent aluminum tubing for my kit
4- Anyone have any other general information on this project.
5- Should I go ahead and order the kit for more money or is it not too terribly hard to make the intercooler piping fit? Either way I'm going to have to save up for a little while being a full time student as well as working at Pottery Barn.
Thanks guys, I really appreciate your help.
Richard
