Hamilton,
Hey, i got this ebay core and a universal piping kit about a year ago, im getting a E3 soon and I am going to be instaling it. Core measures 12 X 23 (just bars, 29 " end to end) X 3. I have 3" piping as well, so i know i will need a reducer coupler from j pipe to the ICP. Jpipe is 2" ?? Also, I will need a reducer from the throttle body elbow..again 2" to 3" ? **i know I will have to run high boost to avoid boost creep btw...I also have 3" full exahust...i still have to port my stock mani OR get a FP mani, but thats an extra $200 i dont have right now....suggestions/preferences?**

Ok, as for my FMIC set up..since its over 7" in height, I've read that I will have to modify the bumper? In what way exactly....Whats the best way to bolt it to my car since it didn't come with anything to bolt it with??...Dont mind the couplers in the pics..these are the crappy ebay plactic ones..i will be getting some 4 ply Vibrant couplers when I actually do the mod in a month or so. If there's anything else i should know...let me know.. THANKS!:D

P.S i know i will prob. have to cut the pipes in some places...not too sure yet as which pipes though (def. the one leading to the jpipe though LOL)...

From the looks of it, the pipe that suppose to go to the compressor looks way too high. The pipe leaving the ic looks like it will have to go through the frame to get to get back into the engine bay. So looks like your universal piping will give you a lil headache. The ic itself looks nice. You'll need to cut into the bumper support or lose it all together to fit it in there. To mount it i used a piece of metal that I bolt from the ic and bent it up and to the outer bolts of the "front fascia bracket" (according to the fsm) which is the bracket around the hood latch. Just noticed you have the smiley bumper, which I'm not sure what you'd have to cut on it. Woops, hope I still helped though.

What turbo ? stock T25? That hot side pipe should not turn up like that. You probably have to trim that one or the one it connect to. Your stock oil feed line might be in the way.

I will be running a Evo 3 Big16

The 90 degree pipe on the hotside (not the one connecting to the j-pipe) will need to be longer by about 6 inches. As for coupler reducers, most j-pipes are 2", but I'm pretty sure the stock throttle body elbow is 2.25". Also, I think you might run into trouble with your cold side pipe setup, check out this write up:

http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/art...ll-diy-piping-large-side-side-core-500-a.html

6" on hotside...do you mean extra 6" right from the core...or more towards the TB elbow? I heard a 2" reducer coupler can be fitted to the TB elbow, but if i can grab a 2.25 one..i def will...

An extra 6'' or so towards the passenger side (or TB elbow). I'm not entirely sure on the TB elbow size, but I'm almost positive it's 2.25. If i remember right, a 2.5 coupler kinda fits on it...

3" piping might be a little too big for a daily driven 16g powered car, especially on your t25 for now.
First off, i would toss those pipes and get all new 2.5" piping, with at least 4 90* angle pipes, 1 u-pipe, and about 2-3 straight pipes.
That should be enough to fab up your own fmic that will fit. As for the crash bar, you can trim the hell out of it or take the risk and take it off like i did.

Why would 3" be too much for a D.D?

What would be the risk of taking it off completely?

Why should i used to trim the crash bar - a swazil or w.e its called ?

1. 3'' would cause more lag because it takes longer for the turbo to fill the intercooler pipes.

2. The crash bar is also known as a 5mph bar, for 5mph crashes. If you lose the crash bar it takes away some strength of the car. I'm done two FMIC on my cars, one taking the crash bar completely out, and just trimming the other one; And I would suggest trimming it instead of removing it completely. It's easier to mount and still provides some protection.

3. I recently trim my crash bar with a circular grinder hooked up to a drill, but a sawzall will also work too.

But if i run high enough PSI (18-22ish) it would be ok no?

Also, i need to get a cat-back exhaust still...i told my Mech. i want 3"...he's saying thats too much and i should go 2.75".....but i eventually want to run +400whp...so would 2.75 still be enough for holding over 400 whp....I already have a 3" downpie and O2 housing....

that looks to be the same style core that punishment racing sells. i have their kit on my car and i ended up removing my bumper support. check out their web site (punishment-racing.com) and maybe you can get an idea on what pipes you will need. if youd like me to take pics of all my piping and how its routed, i can do that, too.

It will just take longer to reach 18-22psi, probably not by much but it may be noticeable. 3'' is not too much at all, do it right the first time and get 3'' especially when you want to be up near 400whp.

im sorry if these pics are a little dark. also, i snapped these pics today while i was doing the head gasket, so there arent any of the kit fully installed on the car.

the j pipe. im sot sure what brand it is, but it came with the turbo.

yikes, care to give us your reason on why you deciding on T-ing the bov line for your mbc?

also didn't the punishment racing kit come with piping for both setups so you didn't have to fabricate that jpipe..

ive seen several pics, and it comes with 2 sets of piping for either td05 14b/16g/etc turbos (jpipe), or regular downflow turbos (usual piping). also seen the lower pipe with a nipple provision for easy.. and arguably the proper, mbc installation.

to clear things up, the mbc doesnt go there when the kit is on the car. it was hooked to the nipple that i had on my old j pipe. i just attatched it to the piping so i wouldnt misplace it while all of it was off the car untill i put a nipple on the new one.

the punishment kit does not come with pipes for the stock t25 turbo (or at least mine did not).
i chose to use that j pipe because not only did it reduce the amount of couplers that i had to use, but it had a much smoother radius than the punishment piece which comes to a point right out of the turbo.
