fm transmitter..

In my daily driver that I got a month ago there is a 10 disc cd changer in the trunk. It is hooked up to a fm transmitter ( I have no idea why they didn't just get a deck). So the other day a radio station decides to use the frequency I'm on. The changer will only let me cycle from 88.1 to 89.9 and pretty much every other one has a station on it, and I can't get one to come through even reasonably anymore. Am I just shit out of luck?

Hopefully someone here is more knowledgeable on the matter than I am. The old fm transmitters do suck. My wife has one for her i-pod and if you plan on driving more than 10-15 miles you have to constantly keep changing radio stations. Even when we can find a station that works the sound quality is so bad we can hardly bare to listen to it. So the only station we've had "any" luck with was 88.3 but again that only lasts for a few miles.

The only thing you could do is get a different FM mod with more stations to choose from.

At this point I would say just spend $80 bucks and get a new CD player. It will have a better quality sound than the FM modulator CD changer. Plus you can change CD's right there.

Most new Radios even have a AUX input for and ipod. Let me tell you that is the WAY TO GO. I haven't listened to a CD in years. I just plug my Phone into the car stereo and play Itunes through my cars speakers. It's great cause if my phone rings it automatically MUTES the radio and lets the phone ring! Not to mention ipods DON'T skip or get scratched!!

CD's still sound a lil better though in my opinion.

Yeah thats what I thought. Thanks for the replies. Going for a new deck w/ an aux in for an ipod and figure out a way to hook up the cd changer.

It's not worth it to hook up the changer, as you'll end up having to buy more parts just to make it work.
