Fluidampr Harmonic Damper

Is this overkill? I am putting together a 2.3L build and was wondering if this would be good to purchase or more of a "look what I have" piece. Are there any gains or benefits of running this over a stocker? Let me know.

well for one it wont seperate like the stocker. that will happen no matter what. Two it will always be in balance because of the liquid in the part.

You might actually lose a little hp due to the weight but its more balanced then the oem piece and it will not seperate. I have one and I would never buy anything else.

With the 2.3, buy it. Go with the 3" maf unless your making 500+hp.

i use one. It will reduce the vibration and actually make your engine last longer. Your timing will be more stable also. You wont have to worry about your crank breaking as much as with a stock one.

If you have fun when you go to drive your car, (run it hard) you will probably go through a stocker once every 1.5 years. There are two GSX's in my family and the stocks just don't last. Spend the money and get the good one. You will save money in the long run.

I've hear/read somewhere that the stock (rubber) damper only dampens vibrations within a very small frequency range. However, the Fluidampr dampens ALL crankshaft vibrations due the use of a fluid damping material. An added benefit to its construction is that it will never separate and will probably outlast your car and engine.

I have a Fluidampr and for me, the added insurance and peace of mind was enough to convince me. Honestly, I haven't noticed ANY difference between the Fluidampr and the stock damper and I probably never will even as I continue increase the power. The engine doesn't run any smoother or rev any slower in my opinion.

Is is worth the added cost? Only you can determine that for yourself. But you're going to be spending thousands of dollars on your build, so what's a few hundred more spent on a Fluidampr? Whatever you do, stay away from the 3rd party OEM replacements like Dorman. There are too many people who have had bad experiences with them.

When I get the extra cash, I will replace my stocker (the original on the car) for a Fluidampr. It's the only aftermarket piece I'd get to replace the stock piece.

You will be fine with either gm maf, the 3.5 will just be a littke larger and take up slightly more space.
