Over the winter I went from an evo 3 16g to a to4e 50 trim, I also added a SBR exhaust manifold and 3" intake.

My best with the e316g was 12.9 at 110 with 20 psi and pump gas.

I had the boost set at 20psi so I could get a comparisson of the 2 different turbo's.

I went to the track on a conservative tune (.96 and 19-20 deg.) with a little over half a tank of 94 octane.

First run of the night was 12.870 at 107.90 w/ 1.82 60', I was a little worried about the low MPH but was happy considering it was my first run all year.

2nd and 3rd run were 13.0 and 12.9 both at 105...This had me worried, why was my mph so low? The car felt pretty flat of the top end so I though I must be Lean and I added 4% fuel.

4th run i mised 2nd bad and screwed the run so I was watching my o2's on my TT...1.02!!!!! So for some reason I was way rich. Leaned it out 6% And then missed 2nd again on my 5th run, o2's were still up over 1.0v so I leaned it out even more.

At this point i'm thinking I must have a boost leak causing me to be way rich but I thought there was nothing I could do about it now.

5th Run was a 12.75 at 110.79 o2's were at .99 but I could tell by the MPH that I was doing something right so I leaned it out even more.

6th Run was a 12.85 at 111.85 with a brutal 2.01 60'. When I got to the track my High settings were at -33% at this point they were down to -46% and I probably coulda went leaner but I figured one more run and I would call it a night.

7th Run was made literally within 2 minutes of the 6th as there was no line up at all. Anyways the car felt good and it turned out to be 12.571 at 112.26 w/ 1.84 60'.

I was pretty happy considering the motor is still bone stock, even the Throttle Body and the fact that I must have a boost leak, all in all a good night considering the car is still in one piece.

good job man, what you tuning with? SAFC and EGTs only? Also who's 50 trim is it?

Also driving around town how much difference do you notice between the two as far as spool and transient boost response?

S-AFC and o2's only as my EGT bung is stuck in my old manifold and my pocketlogger kept losing the connection to the ECU...

the 50 trim spools around 700rpm's slower but the transient repsonse isn't much worse.

With a bit of tuning and no boost leaks, you'll be seeing some low 12's. However, when it comes to going "huh?" when looking at your MPH, I feel your pain.

Great job and congrats,

Andy

112mph is awesome trap on pump. good job man!

Considering I went almost 111 on the evo 3, I know there's room for improvement.

Ohh yah, right after my first run I managed to slam the middle finger of my right hand in my door. It swelled up like crazy and there's a huge blood blister, it made shifting that much more fun :thumb:

im hoping to run a mid 12's with my set up being the fact that im front wheel drive i would be happy with that...great to hear that you did it on an awd keep up the good work and find that boost leak... :thumb:

I found the boost leak, Infact I went over all my T-bolt clamps and they were all loose, also took off my heat shield and found that the head snapped off 1 of my turbo to manifold bolts and the bolt had backed itself all the way out and was just sitting there. Fixed those 2 problems and picked up 300hz airflow so the car is deffinitly faster. Now I just gotta wait 1 month for our ghetto track to have another test n tune...

Yea I had a similar experience as you a while back. I got an scm61 and took it to the track untuned on pump as well. I was expecting to trap 115 or so since I too was upgrading from a 16g. I ran 12.4s all day at 110 - 111. I too was seeing really low traps, but I think my tuning is to blame for that. Just fix those boost leaks and tune it up and you'll be seeing some mid/low 12s easy.

Good deal. Get back to us and let us know how it goes.

Nice job. I always like to hear your new times. Keep us updated. If it wasn't for all my unfortunate luck (two wrecks in 4 days). I would have all my "goodies" on and I would be in the mid-low 13's.

how does the 50 trim "feel" compared to the e316g?

With the Evo 3 spooling sooner the initial "hit" was harder, but once the 50 trims spools it just keeps pulling and pulling were the evo 3 would kinda fall off up top.

Great job man!! who's 50trim do you have? internal or external gate?
I got the PTE internal and got only one pass in at 12.2- 114. I have a complete new set-up now, but plan to see how far this internal 50 trim can go. Then ill switch to a external off the manifold before I switch turbos.

Again nice run! We need to get in the 11 second club man, hahah. When Shep gets done with my gear box ill be posting my slips!
Happy Boostin

Good work I suppose, however I think you could have done much better than 12.9 on that E16G. I ran that on a 14b, and bolting on a E16g and a little tuning netted me the same times as your 50 trim. Keep up the good work though, Im shooting for 11's before I get rid of my 16g though :thumb:

I know I could of done better then 12.9 on the 16g, I was trapping 111mph so the power was there but the driving wasn't ;)

Now that i've got the boost leak fixed the car is deffinitly faster, I wanna see how far I can go on the stock TB and cams...and pump gas :thumb:
