I just ordered a sbr 3500 and its my first time changing a clutch. Per slowboy I had the flywheel resurfaced and stepped to .612 but I am having some problems. I stacked the flywheel, clutch disk and pressure plate and I have a gap between the pressure plate and the flywheel step. The pressure plate sits on the dowels enough to keep it in place but I thought it should fit flush. Is there somthing wrong or is this the way it should be!? Thanks for the help (sorry about the picture quality)

first make sure the disk is facing the right direction. then make sure all the dowel pins on the flywheel line up with all the holes on the pressure plate. then make sure all the holes on the pressure plate line up with the holes on the flywheel where the pressure plate bolts thread into. it probably wont sit flush untill the pressure plate bolts are tightened down. i wouldnt do this until the flywheel is bolted up to the motor. make sure you tighten the pressure plate bolts down in a star pattern.

i loved my sbr 3500,:thumb: good luck with yours

BE CAREFUL when tightening the bolts that hold the pressure plate to the flywheel. Mine's were old and snapped easily, so unless you have new hardware be careful. Good luck man...

One of mine also broke first time around, took some extraction but I was careful next time around.

Remeber to torque the flywheel to spec as well.

Its completely normal for the PP not to sit flush on the flywheel. Think about it, if the PP sits flush on the flywheel there isn't going to be any pressure to hold the disk tight against the flywheel/PP once installed. You need to tighten it down with the PP bolts. Just to be one the safe side I'd pick up some new PP bolts and make sure you replace the flywheel bolts. They are both tightened in a cross pattern, the way you'd tighten lug nuts. Also make sure to use blue locktite.
