Kea'au,
howz it guys,

last night was my first time at the track in hilo, hawaii. i had never really raced my car before and didnt know wat to expect. i was only able to get 2 runs in because it started to rain. i was just wondering how bad my time is and what i could do to make it better. i did sit there and spin of the line ofcorse, cause i didnt know how to properly lauch my car.

here is my best time

reaction - .605
60' - 2.887
1/8th - 10.599 at 72.816mph
1/4 - 15.992
MPH - 91.300

i was runing about 5 psi. i am just wondering how crappy of a time that is and how i could improve.

thanks ya guys

Thats a lot better then a stock 2G N/T DSM. Just get your launch down below a 2.3 60ft. Try different launch rpms and clutch and gas points. Once you are in 3rd though, just mash the hell out of it.

Your 60ft is horrible. Practice your launch technique. It is not the same once you actually have some power, you probably just revved to 4k when you were N/A and dumped it.

That all changes when you have some torque, rev to 3500 and slip it, get those 60ft's down to 2.2-2.3 and you will be alright.

what kit did you get for the GS??? the best way...for me anyways and also heard from others is hold at about 3K..let it slip to where u feel the tires almost start to spin then shift at right before red line in first, slam into 2nd shift at about 6500, slam third same thing...also take some air out of your tires to about 17lbs...this is my technique and with a GST only cat back i ran 14.79 at 92. I know that if you get ur 60ft down and shift well you can knock a half a second off their at least

 What did your f-150 run ? You actually took that to a track ?

Ya, it ran a 15.76 w/airaid intake and gibson exhaust. Its my tow-vehicle, i use it to tow my talon's and mustangs to the track, i just happened to be at sacramento raceway and some guy in a '05 hemi truck wanted to run em. I raced him and it was DEAD EVEN. I also beat a ricer in a CRX w/ a rather large ram-air intake sticking out of the hood.

isnt 5 psi kinda weak? shouldnt a 420a be able to handle alot more...

The 420a engine is so differnt than what me and u have. If the 420a is on stock internals 5-7psi is about as much as it can go without detonation. Where as our cars(4g63) could probably handle 20 psi on stock internals.

About how much WHP do these star kits make at 7psi ?

Probably as much as you make stock.

Remember your Turbocharging a Non turboed car here.

As for WHP I dont know might want to take a look at some vendors selling these kits or see what people are making on the dyno with this kit. But I believe that level kit probably makes about the same power level as the stock GS-t, if that.

I won't be too stock for long :thumb:

i am not sure about the star but my hahn kit at 7psi put down 222whp and 219 of torque

it probably would have been able to do more but my air fuel was very rich

So i guess my 26psi is pushing my stock internals huh?

Psi really doesnt matter on the stock engine its more of if the head gasket holds and how much power you are actually making. And the tune of the car and so many other factors.

Im sick of hearing "oh you could run 20psi on stock internals" wtf 20psi stock internals, Read some before posting this "could probably" crap.

Also your times suck, you are trapping with a stock 4g63 would trap and about a second slower.

Get those 60fts down and you could see maybe mid low 14's would be my best guess

SHHH, we're not allowed to say those times suck around here. We have to encourage them to do better!

:)

thank you guys for your input, it is greatly appreciated

Wow..looks like we got ourselves a badass here...

Yes I ve seen people run more than 20psi on a stock block shit ive run 25-26psi before. I just say that because its not good to consistenly run 20+psi on a stock block when i say stock i mean stock which means stock head gasket too.
