So i went to sacramento raceway tonite and ran my car to see where i was at before going turbo.

BONE STOCK 96 TALON:

Reaction: .543
60 Foot: 2.524
330 foot: 6.964
1/8 mile: 10.707
1/4 Mile: 16.648
MPH: 83.670

What do you guys think is that horrible or??? :talon:

Well i think my reaction time was poor, i had a .046 reaction time on another run but messed it up because i missed 3rd and ran a 17.096.. I think i might be able to run 16.5 ish, if everything goes prefect.

Reaction time has nothing to with ET. You can sit on the line for three days as long as you don't break the beams and trigger the timing system. RT only really matters in true heads up racing or in bracket (dial-in) racing. For test and tune don't even worry about it. If you can find the fine line between slipping the clutch and having some traction then you 60' times will improve and that's where you'll see the greatest gains in your run, especially with a motor that doesn't make a lot of power in stock trim.

Let me know if that makes sense,

Andy

Oh wait, it's stock, once you have more power, thorttle control will make all the difference.

Makes sense Andy, So basically i just want to slip the clutch a bit and let go as soon as i start rolling, to improve my time a bit more

Yea just keep practicing and you will start to notice a better 60' time. Thats what you want to look at when improving you launch. From what I see you not doing to bad for a stock non turbo. I would expect 17's out of those.

That's right. You just have to learn to kind of ride it out and walk the fine line between bogging and smoking the tires. Mashing the throttle won't do any good and you need to kind of "roll" into it smoothly to get the best results. Even us AWD guys have to deal with this depending on track conditions so practice, practice, practice. When I first got my GSX, I was cutting 2.0's and 2.1's but without a stutterbox to build boost on the line I can cut low 1.7's or high 1.6's all day.

Keep at it and you'll eventually get it!

Andy

My mechanic was telling me he could pull 1.7 and 1.8's all day in his stock Galant Vr-4. He has been into to these cars since they where released and he knows how to drive his car. Still hard to believe him though. LOL

GVR-4 are badass cars...

What years had four wheel steering?
Sorry if that is a dumb question... I just forget was it 92?
