Alright I just bought a 1990 Laser FWD with a motor that was rebuilt in 2000 then driven very little so it runs like a champ and the 14b was rebuilt as well. My plans are to get about as much as I can on the 14b and then move up to a 50 or 60 trim monster but right now I'm just trying to get all my first mods done so I can start making the most of what I've got. First I'm gonna clean off the sidemount and check all the hoses. I've already got a MBC and a gauge and I'm running 15PSI with the stock fuel pump and no rewire. I've also removed the lower honeycomb and cut open the airbox. I think my next mod will be a Punishment 2.5" downpipe and a a full 2.5" no cat exhaust. After that I plan on buying a fuel pump, injectors, and an AFC at the same time and installing it all. Does this sound like the best way to make the most out of my money or do you guys have any suggestions? I'm also more familiar with the 1991+ DSM's and I know the 1989-90's were a little what are the important differences that I should know?

Thanks Guys! :dsm: :thumb:

You said you're planning on getting a 50 or 60 trim, I'd get the 3 in exhaust now and save yourself from having to buy 2 exhausts like I did.

I'm poor though and my friend is gonna get me hooked up at an exhaust shop and they can't do bigger than 2.5". I figure for right now with all the money I'll save it'll be worth it I probably won't have to spend more than 220$ for d/p and exhaust.

I'm getting a turbo back exhaust (dp, muffler and cat) for about 350 - 400, It's not as expensive as you would think.....

2.5" is more than fine for a 50 trim.

it may be fine but....you will always see more power with a bigger exhaust...just go 3 in. and save yourself the trouble.

Well the extra 200$ I'll save on the exhaust will be enough for a new stock bumper and paint both of which the car need pretty badly. I'll pobably just put a cutout right after the downpipe when I get a 50 and then I won't have to worry about all the other BS. I'm going to buy a IC piping kit and replace all the stock junk too.

I agree with him... But if you get a 3 inch downpipe, an external wastegate would be nice, don't really need it but if you do get 3 inch I would recommend porting out the wastegate and 02 housing.

By the way... kooka, nice name :p

Yeah I'd like 3 inch but I think I'm going to save the money and get it painted for my girl's sake. LOL

I'd at least suggest doing a re-wire since you're running 15psi. Then the exhaust next. But that's just me.

The rewire looks like a PITA but I think I'm gonna do it.

Another question though, I think I can get 3.5" piping a 2.5" downpipe and that will be fine with a 50 trim right and I won't sacrifice too much power. From what I understand there isn't that much to be gained between a 2.5" and 3" downpipe.
