Somewhere in,
Colorado
So I finally got my pistons that I fought to get for a month and got the block and head to the machine shop for machine work and balancing. I can't find my list of the work they did at the moment, but that'll get listed under my mod list once I do find it.
Anyway, got the block and head back this past Thursday and it sat til Friday night when I realized they removed ALL the bolts I had left in the Block for everything that attaches to the outside of the block, and threw all those bolts into a box. So I spent most of that night trying to sort them out by location. Some how I think I'm missing hardware now... lesson learned there.
Day 2 I finally got to some real work putting on the rear main seal/ housing and the front case. Got the cams into the head and the bearing caps torqued. Took a few hours to find a diagram of the correct torque sequence since my Chilton manual ONLY has the 2G non-turbo diagram. So got that done and started cleaning all the old sealent off my oil pan (I know, that's something that should of been done long ago). so in the process of this, I for some reason decided to take of the drain bolt, clean it, and put it back. This is a very simple thing to do, yet for unknown reasons, I almost broke my right thumb doing it. So I drove to the hospital where they did x-rays and told me I sprained it pretty bad and gave me a splint and some pain meds. Needless to say, progress stopped for the day.
Today my thumb is feeling better, and I now got the head torqued to the block and on my way to putting on the tranx and the manifolds, provided I can find the bolts as I somehow missplaced them. This engine build is off to SUCH a great start............
here's some pics in the meantime...
