How many miles? What year car?

Sounds like a turbo replacement is in the cards.

Stock boost on a 1G is about 11 lbs. When mine would only go to about 7 lbs. the turbo was going out. The original turbo lasted to about 120K.

As far as oil goes (mostly just personal preference), it depends: does the car use or leak oil? If it does stick with dyno oil. I like valvoline cause it's nice and clear looking compared to most others, keeps the engine cleaner looking inside. Change it every 3K. Turbos are hard on oil.

its a 90, it was owned by a woman first then a old european man it has 180k but its mint everything is completely untouched and stock even has a/c i paid 1500. :talon:

i always thought the stock boost level was about 10psi.

if the car is in perfect mint condition why change the oil. Just ask the previous owner what oil they were using.

Welcome to hell...

Your first mod would be going to Sears and getting a nice set of craftsman tools. If you already havent gotten a set. The prepare for an engine rebuild/replacing the motor. 180k is alot of miles on any car, and its turbo so its very rough. I imagine it would die before 220k.

Don't be so sure :). I know of one locally that has 245k on the original stock block and runs a 12.6 consisently every time it goes down the 1/4. It's all about good maintenance. Catch up on the maintenance of your car from the previous owner(s) if you can and that should be able to answer quite a few of your questions.

my guess is that he isnt using the stock internals.... along with a lot of other things that would cause the need for an engine rebuild.... as long as the cylinders dont get scratched, a block could last 300 million miles, you would just have to replace everything else every once and a while, and take care of it properly...

I guess you guys didn't pick up the fact that i told you its mint, meaning first owner was a a woman 2nd was a old man it doesnt smoke rattle leak nothing it doesn't even have lifter tick its alot more solid then one owned by some kid with 98k and that was modded. :|

don't stress on the miles man, mine has 170k and it's not consuming abit of oil.If it was well taken care of and well maintained, you should have some motor left in there.do a compression test and see what comes up.I also recommend Valvoline oil with a OEM filter. Most people on this forum will go with MOBIL1 or AMSOIL,which are better oils then Valvoline, but like you said you got 180k miles already so no point in wasting 50 bucks on a oil change. After i rebuild i will be switching to full synthetic dough.

rofl. im sorry. i would def swap out the engine and look for one with lower miles. no point in modding an abused motor.
