Nice man, good to see the 420 crowd keepin up. With work im sure they r potent motors, ull be giving us a run for our money. WHats the specs on the setup? :dsm:

No times or anything yet. I only got 57 miles on it right now, I haven't even been past 1psi due to the break in. Here's what I got.

JE 8.6:1 Pistons
Eagle Forged Rods
Fully balanced bottom end. Zero'd to the gram
Crane 0014 Cams
AEM Adjustable Cam gears
Crane Valve Springs
Indy Stainless Steel Valves
Star Stage 2 Turbo kit (T3/T4e, FMIC, Warblo 255...ect.)

Thanks. I just can't wait to see how it performs. I'm going to finish my exhaust tuesday. 3" Mandrel Bent with a 3" Tanabe Racing Medalian Muffler. No cat, no resonator... just pure flow.

Looks good man! Get some times for us.

OMG don't be such a ####y. I just rebuilt my motor with all forged internals, same type of thing you did. I did two heat cycles and drove it home. PUt 15lbs to it upto 5500rpm on the way home LOL. Just take it out and give er, if it's gonna break, it will break eventaully anyway, babying it for 1000miles to start is a waste of time.

We build motors and goto the dyno after 3 heat cycles and make 450-500hp in street cars and they last forever..

I'm sorry. I know your a wiseman.... but I don't know. I'm a ASE certified mechanic, and I've never in my life heard of that. I'm doing what I know works. I'm not going to be reckless on this, cause I want it to last.

I am also a fan of hard break ins, but to each their own I guess. Snoopy good looking engine bay and hope all goes well with the new engine I know what it like to put tons of money into the car only to hope it comes out good.

thats an odd airfilter setup

it is but it looks pretty trick if you ask me.

Well, I vary the rpm range's down shift etc to let the rings compress I dont go WOT personally but I let the engine expierience various rpms/loads etc.. for the first 500 miles and gradually get on it. If it's going to fail it will happen babying it or not. good luck with your break in

Your motor sits the wrong way. j/k, looks great. I don't know how long it was down but that feeling when it first fires over is amazing. My car just came back into operating status as well. Maybe I should make a thread about it............ :thumb:

Its been down since late june of last year. I don't know about the rest of you, but my stomach was not feeling very good at the time of first start up. After she fired though I felt a lot better.

The intake is something I've never seen anyone really do. I've seen people pull their headlights, I've seen holes cut to aid the filter... but I never saw anyone actually pipe it outside. Just trying to stay original :thumb:

I actually got on it a little today. 4,000 rpm. I think I might have a boost leak. I'm only pushing about 4-5 psi at 4,000 in 3rd. I expected a lot more in that area. Turbo 420a guys, let me know. What should I expect boost ranges to be? My vac is at 9-10psi and fuel pressure is 76psi.

You are an ASE ceritified mechanic but you dont run a timing belt cover? :nono:

I dont think he said he knew everything......just that he was gonna break his engine in the way he was most comfortable with. Its not a matter of right or wrong. Its a matter of "Its my investment and this makes me feel the most comfortable". I am a aircraft mech for Delta....and I have seen aircrew that get a plane fresh out of maintenance baby it for the thing we just fixed. I dont agree with it...but I understand it.

As for the car. Pimp. Bottom line. You should be proud (as I am sure you are). Its a beautiful setup and looks really really nice. I personally think the interior is nice. I am a fan of a more stock interior with subtle changes here adn there that you dont notice initially (when I was in japan I replaced my cigarette lighter with a manaual boost controller, you had to look hard to see it).

Grats man....enjoy the ride. :thumb:
