I've looked around but I can't make sense of all this... I have a forward facing oil filter housing and I want to be able to run an aftermarket oil pressure gauge and add an oil feed line for my turbo. Is this possible without tapping a new thread in the filter housing?

while we're on the subject, is the stock oil pressure gauge sufficient for daily monitoring of my oil pressure, and more importantly, for tuning purposes? I assume not...

You should buy an after market oil pressure gage. Having said that I don't have one in my car yet either an my car was street tuned by Devon at boosten performance for around 350 to 375 hp. I fully intend on going with a ffwd connections forward facing oil filter housing. I thinks it's $75.00. Go to there web site an check it out. I say this because if you look on there site at the pictures you will see where you will have to tap your current forward facing oil filter housing.
