I just purchased a ecu which came from out of California. Let's assume its emissions are CA and my ecu is Federal, will it work in my car? The ecu is for a 95-99 fwd 5spd turbo. My car is 95 eagle talon turbo. It's also a eprom.

It'll work, but its probably gonna throw a CEL light on because it's going to look for a EGR control solenoid valve thats not there (only on CA models). Easy fix though, just solder a 1K resistor on the R129 spot, it's easy to find (right next to the R130). This will convert it to a Federal ECU.

Yes, my eagle talon is front wheel drive. I thought the soldering was only done to the 1g models. The car will run though right? Only thing you're saying is that it gonna throw a CEL code which will cause only the check engine light on correct?

I'll throw in my $.02

On a 1G it made no difference at all. I had a federal ECU in it, it blew and I changed to a California spec ECU.

No CEL, no problems at all. And it is the same numbered resistor that was the only difference(mentioned above)

Yeah it should work no problem, just might throw a CEL light on that's all (if you don't already have one on, LOL)
