And how do you unknowingly take on DK (also the same initials as Donkey Kong), which is "supposedly" the greatest drifter known? It's kind of like seeing a big 24 on the side of a car and not "knowing" that's Jeff Gordon.

I *think* the main character is Asian-American born in the U.S. who gets sent/banished to Japan by his folks after being convicted of something (and released). So he has no idea who the bad guy really is. Somebody sent here from France or Italy raised on Formula One might not know who Jeff Gordon is.

Hollywood has to be Hollywood and amp things up with drugs, sex and violence, because a real street racing movie like the ones we download off the net would be boring if stretched out over an hour and a half. I can't imagine a big Hollywood production full of cheesy fades and transitions, mod roll calls in block text and obscure techno or metal music blaring in the background the entire time on set shot completely at night. :)

This movie ain't going to ruin the tuner industry, any more then the last two didn't. Just like "Any Given Sunday" didn't ruin it for professional football, and "Striptease" didn't ruin it for strippers. It'll just be another quick 130 mil or so for Universal.

you are right about hollywood spicing it up with drugs and sex and the occasional jumping off the bridge. also how exciting would the movie be if all the racing was a beat up hatch on stock motor and spray aginst a fp green powered 1g(all supporting mods of course) at night behind an industrial park? or the occasional highway run with the fat camera guy that you can see in the side mirror with the shaky hands and the really loud wind hitting the cameras speaker.

i would rather see a pimpedout supra or and some hot chicks and wish the Real underground was like that. j/k(not the pimped out supra part)

id rather see the real, unedited, unaltered footage from real people, real cars, and real racing. take all the best streetracing footage and stick it in the theatres, and im there.

i think itd be badass to give someone 100k, have them build a car(or two) and go get vids of real people doing real things to real cars. then professionally edit it(so its not windows movie maker status) but it could still be a documentary.

I'm a DSMer... Give me $10k a car...... I also have a friend with a machine shop...

I have spent far less than that aftermarket parts on this car.. Watch the trader and ebay...

I think a documentary is a good idea, and it has been done on MTV and the news to some extent. But depending on who is pointing the camera and who is commentating, it will still not reach or will alienate certain people. Either the old people will say its just a bunch of kids with slow imports, or we'll say too many domestics. They could probably touch on all aspects in an hour and a half to maybe not please everybody, but at least give everyone a little of something. I for one could watch 45 minutes of domestics and 45 minutes of imports at real street racing events, with a little of the cops, the build ups, the wrecks and the deaths thrown in.

However, there aren't enough of "us" to go around. The cost of making such a movie would be cheap, but there aren't enough "real" car people who would enjoy the movie to make it worthwhile. Sure, you could produce such a film on a shoestring budget, maybe get it picked up by some small movie distributor, and maybe get it on a few hundred screens. But to get it nationwide where tens of thousands could see it, you need a Universal Studios, or Paramount, or Columbia/Tristar or whatever. And they aren't going to waste their time unless they feel like it could be a hit and make at least 50 million. To do that you gotta make it appeal to a broader audience, That's why you need the guns, the explosions, the aspiring model hotties that don't even have licenses, the pretty boy actors, the special effects and drawbridge jumps.

There is no way I'll be watching that movie. First two bastardized the import scene, now they'll rape the image of the drifter enthusiasts.

Couldn't have said it better myself. I remember what the so called "scene" was like before the 1st movie. I miss those days.

Of course in the 2nd movie, all of the domestics get demolished. The only good thing about the 2nd one was seeing a 70 Challenger *drool*.

I remember f&f1 inspired me to get an eclipse. That is when I was 17. That was 3-3 1/2 years ago. To be honest, that's the time modifying cars for show/go became trendy.

personally I dont.......if I was in need of a ggod laugh I sure as hell would'nt spend that much at a theatre. Sounds like there is a little more going on than stated. WTF
Mike

the movie may suck, but you know you're all gonna enjoy it LOL

hope this doesn't go to far off topic, but staying within the point we are trying to make In the future their my be a live action Initial D movie. do you guys think that movie will bastardize the drifting scene as well? I mean depending on wether the movie is no name actors or big budget stars?

but drifting is m4d tyt3 Yo! come on lets face it ppl... making a movie about a "motorsport" that is basically nothing more than figure skating on 4 wheels is going to be about as enthralling as watching real figure skating... but i really wonder when drifting is going to be an olympic sport so the french judge can screw over the canadian drifter and give the russian the medal :D
but on the movie topic... why even discuss it? we all know what's going to happen and several ppl have mentioned it already.. we're all going to say we won't watch it, then we'll go watch it secretly and semi-enjoy it during the actual time we're in the theaters (probably just cuz its so freaking expenisve to buy a ticket that we have to lie to ourselves to justify spending the money) then go home and complain to all our friends about how un-realistic and cheesey it was... but may i point out that movies that most ppl like i.e. bruce willis' die hard trilogy... do u think that movie was realisitic or seriously dramatic?

"omfg, if someone sticks a dam pos nissan engine in a stang, i will personally hunt the person who requested the car and kill them. "

who ever said POS nissan engine needs to take their head outta their ass. The RB is from a Nissan Skyline, the RB came either as the RB25DET or the RB26DETT, it has been well proven in the industry and responds tremendously well to mods. the RB26TT came with a 2.6l TT with 280hp at 6800 rpm with 392.3ft/lbs of torque at 4400 rpm! The fact that they put it in a mustang is retarded, period. I dont know about any of you guys but any 2.6l straight six that makes 400 ft/lbs of torque stock is okay in my book. Besides the fact they come with the best equiped AWD system known [ATTESA] and the cars are stock 6spds. [/RANT]

DIE HARD was EASILY the most realistic movie ever to be produced.

i said that. you dont put a nissan motor in any ford period(or any other make but a nissan). its not about how much power it makes, its just wrong.

No, no, no. It was definitely the Lethal Weapon series. :)

I don't much care for cross brand engine swaps either. I don't see why they have to put a Nissan anything into a Mustang so it can be a good drifter, or belong to the scene. It would be perfectly acceptable to have a classic muscle car in the movie without bastardizing it. Up until lately, it has been all American cars winning the D1 in the U.S. anyway, with their own V8 or V10 power.

Putting any other engine in a mustang would be a waste. Just because having a mustang is a waste already.

Yeah, because you know you added a lot of Non-BS.

ANYWAYS BACK ON TOPIC, I will be seeing F&F3 because it involves cars and I have seen the other 2 in the theaters already. It's part of the reason I got into cars. After seeing these movies I started looking into the scene and finally got the car I wanted from the first movie. Sure they weren't great (Movies), but it's better than some chick flick.

i;ve already contributed my thought about the movie on page one. Also im not the one who gave a useless opinion about mustangs, i'm sure you are aware that most of them would destroy your precious N/T. And no i'm not some butt hurt mustang owner....

Okay so I tried to read most of the threads before posting and I think I didn' see anyone talk about my friend who got his nissan 240sx casted in the new F&F 3. He sent in a picture with what its got and they called him back the next day.

89-94 180sx style 240, with an RB25DET stuffed in it. This thing is a quick freeway monster but I dunno how much my buddy drifts in it anymore because of the wieght factor. It will be instersting to see it as an extra in the movie though, coming from my home town. "Olympia WA"

Anyways just wondering if anyone else knew someone that got their car in the new movie. I doubt we'll see that many eclipses in there if its based in tokyo, but you never know I don't know if the directors pay that much attetion to detail this time.

I don't know where you got the idea that I think my NT is faster than a V8? I have a spot in my heart for V8's, but sadly to say, Mustangs don't share a spot there. Their V8's are underpowered compared to any other sports/muscle car out right now. If their engines are so great anyways, why do they want to swap an I6 in it for the movie???

Alright fellas, as stated before, I don't think this has anything really to do with the thread. Although this is an import website, and there will be discrimination in some cases to non import cars. There will also be those few who like non import cars and there's nothing wrong with it, just the forums don't need to be cluttered with all of that mumbo jumbo
