So I'm to the point in my build where I'm starting to look at clutches...I've been researching to see what the best bang for the buck choice would be. It appears that a ton of guys have good luck with the F1 brand on Ebay (I found this surprising)

I'm currently planning about a 300hp build, and need to know what the clutch of choice is. I see the F1 is only rated to 230 HP/213 ft. lbs, but in some of the threads I was reading guys were saying it's an underrated clutch. Can anyone vouch for this?

Otherwise I'm open to any suggestions for a clutch that will fit my build. Thanks!

Tyson- 420a is a modular clutch. As far as I know ACT only has non-modular (although they do have conversion kits). I will need some advice that doesn't pertain to the 4g63 world here...

I thought that F1 was a branch off ACT clutches.
6 puck with springs is what I would go with. but that's just me. I ran it on stock cars and it held okay.

I don't have a stock car, I don't have a 4g63, and a 6-puck non-modular clutch isn't going to do me any good.

hah! Everything works on civics.

I'd go with something more reputable, its been proven!

From what I can tell the F1's are very reputable, I'd just like to know their limitations.

Well, most people here probably don't have any experience with that clutch so they won't know. This is the first time I have ever heard of that clutch. The majority of people here are hooked on ACT. You would probably have better luck calling that vendor and asking them more about them. Or googling it and looking for threads where people are talking about them.

ARGH!! If you 4g63 owners don't have the info, then please don't post!!

Sorry for that but it gets frustrating. The F1 clutch is a well known and time proven clutch in the 420a/Neon world. It is an impressive little clutch for our cars (for the cost) and will handle anything you can throw at it NA (I have done over 20k on at least 2 seperate vehicles). Some guys have even thrown boost at it and done fine.

As for 300whp, I think you are too far into the power/torque range. I would think that would push the limits of even the PT Cruiser clutch. At that range, I think you're a step up to the SBC range :coy:

I personally used an f1 stage 2 clutch for well over a year with a fidanza flywheel on my gst. got about 20-25k miles on it of some pretty hard driving at time when a spring finally broke. At the time my car was mildly modded I probably had about 225 whp.

Thanks Bullett, I was waiting for your response LOL

I'm thinking their Stage 2 (TZ Series) is probably my best choice then.

I have an f1 stage 4 in my car and it has been in it for about 4 years. I had great luck with mine.. lots of launches, clutch kicks, ect. When I got my f1 it came with a clutchnet 6 puck sprung clutch disk. Unfortunately I don't think they come with those anymore. My buddy had the same stage 4 6puck in his civic hatch and the springs blew out of it I like to think because it wasn't a clutchnet clutch disk.
