1). I love the sound of the external dump, but you know i have never really heard the Internal Dump, i wonder if it makes any sound difference compared to a ported 2g O2 housing...

2). I dunno I would much rather have the external dump, it emarasses the mustang guys w/ their flowmasters j/k (FYI my friend gets called rice and Pos for having the ex dump :thumbdown ) what do they know..............

1). Any WG rerouted will sound close to stock (all spool and exhaust sound).

2). Heh, yeah really ricey. Especially when your pulling past them short 2-4 cylinders and your dump is louder than their $150 rednecked exhaust

Just wanted to let everyone know that I got a good chance to drive the car this weekend and the external dump is growning on me fast. Much more intimidating for the the V8's that are so fun to play with. And the expression on peoples faces when they hear it is great :thumb:

Yeah, I have had my dump tube on my Talon for 6 months now. I am still up in the air about hating it, or loving it. It provides very noticable gains on the top end, but sounds like a dirt bike with now muffler.

I still love opening the wastegate up when you sneak up on a convertable. :thumb: You cant beat the looks on their face. Or making a drive through a tunnle.

LOL! I know what you're talking about!! One of my good friends around here has an external dump on his tsi, and we go riding through this one tunnel all the time and it scares the living shit out of people! ...

95 TSI AWD: $4200
External dump: $120
The look on people's faces when you go boosting by them: Priceless :D

haha OMG you will never believe what happend tonight (this relates to this thread) I was cruising with my buddy in his gst since mine is currently apart doing the evo 16g turbo swap and we were on our way back from downtown when two blue civic si's pull up next to us and rev their cool stock mommy bought cars (btw: i happen to be a fan of the SI) but anyways, Eventually we took off on a roll we opened it up and let them hear the goodole External dump from PR and followed us into a movie parking lot and we were then asked if we had vtech?? And of course let them know that we indeed had a upgraded vtech controller that made the loud sound, that was my night :thumb: :dsm:

I have one and I don't even notice it most of the time. I have to tell myself to listen for it sometimes. I have also had an externally dumped internal gate and it was louder than my TiAL 40 externally dumped.

i have a question about external wg mounted on the o2 housing, if your turbo was internally gated before what do you do with the internal gate if your going to be externally gated, do you just take it off or what?

ryan

from what i understand some people have just welded the internal gate open. and i dont know much on this but it sounds like you could just remove it as long as you have the external wg

I am in the process of converting an internally gated 20G to an externally gated setup.

Unbolt the internal gate and disconnect the WG actuator arm from the flapper arm

Remove the flapper. You can do it two ways, port out the WG passage first enough to slide the flapper to the side then out, or get the dremel out and cut up the flapper and flapper arm to get it out (I chose to cut). Afterwards, weld the hole where the flapper arm went through shut:

Port the WG passage completely out (Im still in the process, so I havent taken a pic yet)

Port the hell out of the turbine housing inlet while your at it ;)

Dieselboy, where did you get you o2 dump set up from? I can only find one website with it and it's like $700 for it.

That was not my setup, simply a pic I found a while ago on the net. Victory Performance makes the setup:

I had one of these on my last car, they are pretty damn nice. However, I got sick of the external dump after awhile, but thats jsut a matter of personal preference. I will definitly get one of the tubular victory o2 housings that routes back in, for my current eclipse.

I have the VP externally dumped housing and fitment was top notch. I have a Tial 40mm dumping and to be honest it isn't as loud as a dump off the manifold. I really can't complain one bit about it. It looks great, sounds great, and performs great.
