ok i just got my new megan racing 3" turbo back put on(which by the way is really nice) and now theirs white smoke comeing out. with my stock exhaust there was only black smoke when i got on the gas, but i know that wasent a problem it just ment that im runing rich. but now my friend tells me that theirs white smoke coming out and it only really happens after i build boost and let of the gas, and let it rev down wile in gear from 3k or more rpm(the higher the rpm the more smoke).

the new exhaust is catless, my car is pritty much stock with 112000 miles

theres a good chance it might be oil burning.... I know that some people have experienced a major increase in boost when they put a 3" catless exhaust... there is a chance you may have a turbo going out or you might have messed something up in the motor from excessive boost... what are you boosting at right now? do you have an aftermarket boost gauge? Do you have an MBC?

do a compression check to make sure that nothing is being naughty inside your motor... from there, I would check your turbo.... hopefully its not a blown head gasket...

ok well assuming it is the turbo then i guess its time for me to start upgrading...

i want to run a 50 trim but im unsure of what one i should get as far as who makes a better turbo. i was looking at this one http://www.slowboyracing.com/more.php?id=5273&...

i am looking to make 350-400 streetable HP

is it worth getting a BB turbo for better spool or would it not even be worth the extra money, i want a good reliable turbo that i wont have to push to its max to reach my goal

that would equeal white smoke you are leaking coolant into the combustion chamber. buring oil is more of a blue color. If you blew the seals on your turbo you would know without a second guess

here are the pics...

also, im not sure how to test for shaft play but it moves in and out in the turbo

If you can feel any in/out shaft play on the turbo, the turbo's cooked. Replace or rebuild at your discretion. Since it's a T25, you might as well just upgrade.

Oil leaking out of the turbocharger usually results in white smoke exiting the exhaust after boosting/letting off the throttle. Don't ask me why it's white/gray, it just is. If it were indeed coolant, it would smell sweet like maple syrup.

OP, replace your turbo and time your cams correctly.

If you had a head gasket going and were burning coolant, then that would be white smoke. Pure white heavy smoke. When my 7 bolt when and the head gasket went, antifreeze went into the cylinders making a smoke screen of super white smoke.

The 100 compression in cylinder 3 isnt good. Bad compression means worn piston rings, or cylinders, damaged valves and blown head gaskets. I dont know the specs on proper compression or how bad 100 would be.

Doing a wet test on a low compression cylinder and having the compression go up means worn/fried piston ring correct?

well its not heavy wight smoke and its not all the time, and it only happens when i build boost then let off the gas. so im thinking its the turbo.

as far as the compression, on the 3rd cylinder i turned it over 5 times and i got between the 100 and 105 mark on my gauge, so i put about a cap full of 30 weight oil in and rtyed again and only got 105, so that would mean the the rings are still somewhat good right?

as for the timeing marks i dont know what hapened, i turned it over a few times and the marks were lined up.

You have in and out shaft play on your turbo and you're blowing out white smoke after building boost and letting off the throttle. Your turbo is shot. Rebuild or replace. The 3rd cylinder being that low indicates that you're losing compression also, either from the rings, valves, or gasket. Do a leakdown test to determine which.
