I just got my '98 spyder a few weeks ago and i was wondering which exhaust system would be a good choice? So far i have narrowed it down to a few;
1. Tanabe Ultra Medalion
2. HKS Turbo
3. HKS carbon ti
i was reading some other threads and Apexi N1 and Thermal R&D seemed to be a popular choice too. I am sorta leaning towards Tanabe, i heard it is really loud and has a good deep tone to it. anyone have some feedback or pictures for me on these would be awesome.

now what would your over all out come be for your choosing? would it be for:
1. performance
2. sound
3. performance yet with the intimidation factor?

answer that ?. and everyone will be better to answer yours correctly

yea i just ordered a thermal i should get it today. ill posts pics...and i suggest an injen intake prior to exhaust (what i did, and you can hear the bov and turbo much better) :thumb:

oh yah i installed my injen intake, along with my intercooler pipes and man did it sound nice. Hearing the turbo screaming :tease: is great. I ordered my downpipe and i'm waiting on my thermal, from what ive heard, go thermal man!

Yes, Thermal R&D sound amazing :thumb:
I second this. It doesn't resonate in the car too bad, and it's nice and deep. I'd suggest any exhaust that makes a little 4-banger not sound like a blender, and this will sure as hell do it. The build quality is great too, and won't rape your wallet.

Edit: another good point is that the Thermal muffler is the only one I've seen that the end is bent to make the end point out the back of the car. It just looks like garbage when your exhaust points diagonally out fomr under your bumper. I get a lot of compliments just on this seemingly trifling point of aesthetic.

I find the Termal R&D's to be a bit too loud for my tastes (I have one on my Talon). While they are nice and deep, the relentless droning can be annoying on long trips. IMO the Greddy EVO is the nicest exhaust you can get for a 2G. It's much quieter while cruising but nice and deep at WOT and idle.

ya i was thinking of putting injen intake piping along with a HKS super mega flow filter before my exhaust, so far Thermal exhaust seems to be what most people are suggesting, anyone know anything about Tanabe Ultra medalion?

I love my greddy evo2. Its not super loud, but its plenty loud enough which happens to be perfect for me :) .... i believe its one of the quietest full 3" out there, but it does have a nice deep tone.
