so ive noticed that many people choose this evo 3 16g turbo. if i am correct it is off the lancer evo III? and also i hear of others doing a JDM 6 bolt swap which is the evo III engine. now my question is: why i dont hear of people going for a newer evo motor or newer evo turbo?
For example; could u fit the turbo off a evo 8 onto our dsm's? or even the whole package like the exhaust manifold, turbo and down pipe? or even a full engine swap of any other evo ?

just a noob lookin for the facts. :)

thanks

:dsm:

The EVO VIII has the tranny, cams, everything on the opposite side of the 4G63, making it fit would be a major project. I drove an EVO VIII recently, I think it would be one hell of a motor in a DSM...

oh i see, so its like the 420A ? position wise?
up here in canada they no to lettin in those sweet evo's. im so jelous !
still love my dsm tho. :thumb:

Yes it's positioned like the 420a. Some people have used the evo 8 turbo on the DSM style 4G63's even though it is backwards. It makes for some crazy piping. I know there are some pics floating around here but I couldn't find them.

what turbo do you have, i mean you just got to mate it to the turbo your running. aftermarket wouldnt hurt though.
( i think we need more details man)

Need to excuse me 1st time :dsm: owner... Got the JDM 4G63t GVR4 i was reading about it, it has the yellow injectors and the the 16g turbo on it. I was told i got a pretty good engine. I also have another question, we took the water pump off and it had like a crystalization on it. My mechanic said it could be from the red coolant they used in it, he said somethink like old base or silicone based.

What's your question? You really should check out the condition of your motor first before starting to replace things. How is the turbo looking? shaft play? fins in good condition?

I mean it's not like you don't have a manifold now.

It's not abnormal for it to have some crystalization as its been sitting around for a while. Get your motor cleaned up and running before trying to go fast.
