I am looking for a replacement for my stock side mount and I am on a budget. I wanted to know which do you guys think is worth more for the hassel of adapting into the car, the stock Supra sidemount or the stock Evo front mount? I am trying to keep it as much of a sleeper as I can. I have read good things about the Supra intercooler and can't find many results for the Evo intercooler. I am currently running a 16g at 17 psi.

I understand you want the sleeper look but a fmic is always better exspecialy running upwards on boost as you seem to be. Worst case get the front mount cause theres no doubt its better and paint it black to hide it or leave it aluminum colored and put some wire mesh in front of it to hide it

The Supra sidemount is a good upgrade as it can easily fit will small modification. The EVO on the other hand is, in my opinion, not the worth the hassle unless you can get one really cheap. From what I've read, and EVO 8/9 FMIC's are not that big of an improvement. If you want to go with a front mount, just get off ebay. But since you want to keep the sleeper look, I'd go with the Supra sidemount.

Evo 3 intercoolers can be had for very cheap and are easily good enough for your setup. I ran mine up to 24 psi on my 18g with no problems. My wife has ran her evo 3 intercooler up to 20 psi on her 60 trim To4E. Send me a PM if you are having problems finding them. I can hook you up with one. Going price is about 50 dollars plus shipping. Let me know.

Evo 3??? Did you mean Evo 8/9? Is it hard to get the piping done? That's all I seem to be able to find when reading the threads, that it's hard to make the piping. I will be looking for them on ebay soon.

I don't see how it can be that hard to route piping to it. It can't be any more work or thought than a standard ebay fmic or doing a supra side mount. All it takes is time and measuring and cutting.

Between the evo and supra I/C's the supra's will be easier to install. I agree to go with the SSAC kit, it is pretty much a "bolt on" and the best you can go with on a budget. I understand your wanting to keep the car unnoticeable though.. Are you having issues with heatsoak and high knock? Maybe you can get away with keeping the side mount and just getting some hard pipes that flow a little better? I know a few guys with their stock side mounts that are well into the 12's and breaking into the 11's. Maybe even just try adapting a 1g side mount.. I noticed a decent improvement I went from my stock 2g to a stock 1g intercooler even with the stock piping.

And beading. Most people don't have a proper bead tool so it takes a little bit of creativity.

On a budget, I would probably go with the Supra sidemount or rig up an intercooler sprayer (that's what I did). I sure as hell wouldn't take a chance on an ebay intercooler. Half the time they don't even have turbulators inside. But hey, if you like to keep converting dollars into Yuan for the benefit of the Chinese, go ahead and buy knock-off crap, because what's most important is that you pay as little as possible, right?

I would second the supra side mount. I thought there was a write up somewhere on here about the evo intercooler. The piping was a job I believe. But if not a supra side mount, ebay is your friend with a fmic.

My old GST had a Evo 8 FMIC with custom piping (easy). Piping and FMIC cost $150 all together, it held 25 psi perfect no problem daily. (6bolt swap, far from stock motor)

No I mean't evo 3. Got a good line on them.

I just weld a bead on the end of my piping. Good to go !:)

oem evo intercoolers are able to hold 340whp without being restrictive, this is on a mustang dyno btw...so they are definitely a good investment, they can be bought cheap off evolutionm.net in their classifieds section

So far no problems with knock or heatsoak just RM, but I'm looking into that. I am going to be upgrading my turbo soon and I don't want any problems with heatsoak, I live in southern California and today it was 95+ degrees so this heat is another concern of mine. I already have the hard piping so now I just need a more efficient intercooler. I'll look into the SSAC kit.

Haiku-rocket, are they the same style as the Evo 8/9? Do the end tanks angle down? Do you have any pictures? I went to your profile and couldn't find any.

Nice picture Fear19. Do the fog lights have to be sacrificed? I just bought some replacements for mine :(

Sorry Haioku-rocket I just noticed I miss spelled your name.
