my friend has an evo 8, he recently upgraded his fuel pump, and said that his stock fuel pump would be better than my stock one. Anyone know if it would bolt up and if pumps at a higher rate than a 2g turbo

I'm running stock fuel with no exhaust and smic evo 3 at 15psi atm. Not saying it's safe in the long run but it runs nicely and the horsepower scales all the way to redline.

right there with you...I have an MAFT setup so i can adjust the signal for when i get bigger injectors. I have my boost controler all the way out right now (no boost guage yet)

EDIT: just relized this thread is over a year old ROFL

Ok I just got an evo viii fuel pump, but there is no filter on it. Should I just buy another one with the filter or can I use my 2g filter with the evo fuel pump?

Either works. IMHO you should have sought out an Evo IX pump instead though.

we are still waiting for your review. i have an evo 8, but i only run no more than 21lbs, i dont run anything more than 91 octane, and even then 21 gets to be too much without knock setting in. the 8 has that limitation correct.

I have a E3 16g in with stock fuel (look in profile for the rest). I was fine until this fall came. I was running 10.8-11.2 AFR at 8psi creeping to 11. I put in the boost controller until it was always 11psi, (btw I don't really trust my VDO gauge at this point). Now it's going up to 11.7-11.9 on cold nights! I dialed the boost controller all the way out to be on the safe side and it still hit 11.7AFR! I went to install my EVO IX pump to be safe, but I had a full tank and that went badly. Should I get an FPR or will I be OK with the EVO IX pump on no logger/tuner. I won't install my AFC Neo because it would be a waste of time as I will be buying link next summer. I'm not saying I know its knocking, but I know 11.7-11.9 AFR is too high. Should I just throw in the pump I have and buy an FPR this summer?

they are both 38mm denso pumps so the filter will be interchangeable. The Evo8 pressure relief valve opens around 65psi dropping fuel pressure to almost nothing. But it flows similar to 190lph until then. I have one in my 1g and its worked great for me thus far.

I just installed my evo fuel pump and that thing put me thru heel cause the 14m bolt got stripped so i try to remove it from the top and it was so easy you just have to watch out because the rubber pipe twist alot when u are removing it and then to put it back in you have to ush the gas line up and connect that first and then put in the fuel pump.

I still think testing the pumps at 14V is a little unreasonable. I would like to see them use slightly lower voltage, perhaps 13-13.5, just to average everything out. I doubt the results would be much different, though. Guess they're looking for the pumps' peak performance instead of subpar results.

Nevermind. I thought I heard claims of >14V after a rewire, but I was wrong.

Still would be nice to see the results imitating non-rewired pumps.

Hello, I have a evo 8 fuel pump layin around, and was thinking about putting it in my 90 gsx, and rewiring it. Do I need any other mods for my car to run properly? I eventually want to get bigger injectors, 16g, and some kind of engine managment, but right now car is close to stock.

Evo 8 pump rewired flows close to the amount of a walbro 190lph, which doesn't need an afpr.

Put it on.
