Evo 9 FMIC

Got a guy hear locally parting out his DSM and has an Evo 9 FMIC for sale for $100 and I think it is a really great deal. My questions are, is it as good of a deal as I think it is? Is this a decent FMIC? With pretty much stage 1 level upgrades, what can I expect on power increase?

You should see some improvement..But I think you might have to cut your own tubing, and mount it witha little fab..Do an evo 9 fmic install search..I found a couple for evo 8 fmic , but none yet for 9..Just search a lil bit, and you might find your answer..

I think you will see better gains when you upgrade the turbo. FMIC tend to increase lag with our tiny t25's

I am being offered an Evo IX FMIC as well for $100. You may see a few horses increase from using that core, but it will not be noticable. You will also need ic piping to install it. You can get a universal ic piping kit on ebay for pretty cheap.

But the OP does have the stock t25, So If your looking at really gaining from the fmic..We would all suggest getting a larger turbo..And hard piping, like Corey said..

Is there anything I should be looking for that would show it being a bad IC? Other than obvious damage and bent fins? Are there anythings I can do to improve the Performance of the ic and the turbo? Like porting, ic pipe choices, anything like that?

Really bent up fins, and cracks in the end tanks.

So what can I do about a piping kit? Does anyone sell that specific kit for a 2g? Or do I have to custom fab it?

i use a evo 8 and i just cut mounting tabs and both side pipes and weld on straight ones and your good.

You can buy a universal pipe kit and cut it up to suit your needs

zxrider_sa, this is totally off topic and kind of random but what the hell happened to the front of your car?

I would fix that before upgrading .

An eye sore, right? . Some guy backed into it. It was done when I bought it. Got an oem hood out of Charlotte for $30. Got to paint it and straighten out the bumper cover brackets and Ill be straight.
