so i am looking at getting an evo 3 16g (mhi not "gt") and was wondering what fuel mods would be required. i would like it if i could get away with a 3/s tt fuel pump (174 ish lph) not rewired and evo8 injectors.... but im looking to go up to, but not always and not beyond 30 psi....i of corse have neither the fuel mods nor the turbo yet, but i plan to get them after i get a 3 inch exaust system. does anyone know if those fuel mods would be enough for that turbo at that psi....(and btw i have an fmic and am going to install it as soon as i get my car back, and will be watching knock religiously, so im not worried if the evo3 is just flowing hot air at 30 psi, cuz as long as my fmic cools it down it doesnt really matter)

first off your not gonna flow 30spi on a 16g. So you can get taht out of your head. Since you would be WAY out of the effeciency range and the fmic wont help it any if the turbo is not performing properly. but you will need at least a safc, or 3in gm maf/translator. For fuel control. But rewiring your pump is so EASY i dont see why you wouldnt do it.

extra current, and i just dont feel like dealing with it... i have a 3 inch gm maf thats going on with the fmic.... and plan on buying dsmlink either before or after exaust, not sure which....

30 psi is way out of the efficency range of the turbo, and between having an intercooler large enough to cool that hot air and one that is efficent enough not to have a great pressure drop, you should look to lower your boost target.

30 psi with evo injectors (560cc I believe) and a 3/si fuel pump isn't going to deliver enough fuel. That's a decent setup for that turbo, just not at 30 psi. You'll be fine at 15-18 psi.

Either or it doesnt hurt to rewire it. But dsmlink rocks. and the exhaust should be hte first thing on your list

I would personally get all your supporting mods such as FMIC installed, injectors, pump, SAFC, logger, exhuast etc before getting the turbo. Why not push the 14b to its limits before upgrading? It has plenty of potential and will make you pretty happy until all supporting mod's are completed.

ok honestly dont care about the turbos efficentcy range, if im really losing that much power to the turbos inefficencty ill change to a 50 trim or something, but i want to test out the evo3 and find out how far i can push it. as for keeping the 14b, i will be for a while, and i already said it will come after i get my fuel and exaust mods done....

so i was doing some thinking, and mathmatically you should be able to calculate the neseccary fuel for given psi assuming that the turbo flows an unlimited ammount of air (which we all know the evo3 doesnt...along with any other turbo) at 30 psi, our 1997cc engine is turned into a 1997cc x ((14.7+30)/14.7)=6072.51 cc's of air, divide that number by 4 because there are 4 cylinders and 1 injector per cylinder, and you get 1518.12755, now divide that by the air fuel ratio, lets assume im running really rich at 8:1, so you get 189.7659438 cc's of fuel needed for this set up...

so the stock injectors will work

not... we both know that this is not true, but the only other way i can think of calculating it is finding out what the fuel is composed up of and using chemistry to find out how much air is needed for one molicule, and finding out how much air is in 6.072 L and so on, but im not about to do it that way, cuz i hate chemistry... so does anyone know of any ways to calculate the amount of fuel needed for a given amount of air... our ecu knows, does anyone know what equations our computer uses to calculate how much fuel to inject?

yea man I HAVE THE EXACT SAME SET UP U'RE DESCRIBING... aint no damn way u're gonna hit 30psi LOL! I mean I hit 20 psi safely on 100 octane and a built motor. I won't dare go higher unless I get water injection.

oh man but u're gonna probably need 650 injectors with the setup that u want because if u're still wanting that 16g and wanting to go to hit 20 psi u're gonna max out even 550 injectors.

this is a perfect example of responses ive been looking for....

i know this is somewhat off topic, but does anyone have the flow charts of any turbos that are used (by a moderate amount of people) on dsms? the evo3, 14b, and any 50 trim would be greatly appreciated..

LOL, i found them there too, in case you didnt know (which i doubt you did cuz you would have no way of knowing and i dont blame you for this) i was first interested in stealths, and have known and read all the info on that site. but in case you didnt notice, not only does that site lack the evo3 16g, but it also does most (all) of its testing on the 6g63, so the flow charts/demand will be different... (that and the evo3 isnt there, along with most 50trims we use, even tho im sure those charts are close enof...)

I understand your point but the tdo5h16g6 on there is prety darn close to the evoIII. since it is used on the evoIv's and up..

Small 16g 34lb/min
Big 16g 36lb/min
Evo3 16g 42lb/min (from Forced Performance info)
