Hey guys,
ok so I'm in the process of rebuilding my motor and upgrading a TON of stuff around it. My question is concerning the evo iii turbo that I've bought for it. When me and a buddy were bolting it all together on the stand, we put the turbo on and he noticed that he can rotate the flapper door with his finger pretty easily. He was telling me I should shim the wastegate or bend the arm some to keep the flapper closed tighter. I'm curious as to how tight the door actually needs to be when the engine is just resting. Would the vaccum that the engine experiences normally cause it to go tight? The turbo is in good condition and I just puleed the actuator off to see if the arm was bent at all but its not? So why would I be able to do this?! Please help me cuz this is driving me crazy. Thanx a bunch guys.

It's not that the arm itself moves easily. I took the actuator off and tried pulling it myself and it was very hard. It seems that when everything is bolted up and the arm is pinned to the flapper, It isn't sealed all the way, but their seems to be no bend in the arm or the bracket. He is able to turn the flapper door with his finger. Not necessarily pull it open but spin it around. It doesn't seem to be contacting the wastegate opening. This is way I had brought up the suggestion that I've heard of shimming the bracket on the actuator so it would pull the arm back a bit, hence tighening the flapper.
