engine swap questions

OK I have a 95 eagle talon tsi fwd I'm going to be picking up a 97 Gsx with 50k on body and tranny there is no motor in it. I haven't had a chance to see the car in person yet but he said it is wired for a 6 bolt. I am going to be dropping in my stock 7 bolt motor for now. Reason I am doing this is I recently got hit in a car accident and the insurance company screwed me over and won't give me any more than 2k for my car which is now pronounced totaled. I am aware I need to hook up a 1g CAS. I am unaware on how to wire this in correctly and what other issues I will encounter I am also getting link V2 with the car and a black box ecu I'm limited on cash here and want to make sure I'm not going to screw myself here thanks for any help in advance. The car is a great deal and best bet for me at this time I will keep this updated as the swap continues for anyone who may do the same swap.

Its not really much of a swap putting a 2g engine in a 2g, the only thing that will really make a difference is what cam angle sensor you use. If the previous owner says its wired for a 6 bolt than it should be ready for a 1g CAS. If not you can buy a premade harness or make one.

You don't need both, link wont work with the black box ecu. You either need dsmlink and a 95-97 ecu or a black ecu and a tactrix cable and no dsmlink.

Yes I should have specified that I'm taking out the black box ecu and putting in link now will the cams be any issue at all with the 1g CAS and the 7 bolt cams? And do you will the harness off magnus motorsports work?

Yes that harness will work and with a 1g cas any cams will work, the 97-99 cas is the only one that needs the cams drilled & tapped.
